About The Job

American Airlines is seeking a Software Developer to drive its software development process, maintaining all aspects of the overall software development lifecycle and ensuring the on-time, quality delivery of software product releases. The candidate will be part of an agile development team, building and working on enterprise grade software systems on top of the Java, J2EE and Spring software development stacks. This position involves all aspects of designing and developing application systems and developing requirements and design specifications for new and existing applications.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering


Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of object oriented software development experience
  • Java, J2EE, Eclipse, Maven, Spring, Web Service Development and UML
  • Tomcat and IBM WebSphere Application Server
  • SQL, JPA and relational databases
  • Experience in integration design and development skills using technologies such as IBM, MQ and JMS
  • Knowledge of ESB and SOA, Web Services methodologies using RESTful or SOAP based API’s

Qualifications (Continued)

  • Ability to function in a Linux/Unix environment using shell commands. Scripting is a plus
  • Ability to scrutinize applications and services to ensure they adhere to security standards
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Interact with other key project designers participating in project-wide design and procedures decisions
  • Analyze, discover, document, and communicate design options for implementing analysis specifications
  • Ability to communicate precisely and clearly, in both spoken and written English
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Maintain and enhance existing services, applications, and platforms including, but not limited to, bug fixes, feature enhancements and performance tuning
  • Troubleshoot and debug complex issues; identify and implement solutions
  • Ability to be flexible and focused to deliver products with different priorities and timelines
  • Analyze system requirements, design, and document solutions using specified tools and methodologies
  • Work with production operations department to ensure deployments roll out smoothly and customers receive appropriate support
  • Research and implement new technologies to enhance current processes, security and performance
