Position Purpose

The Associate Dean oversees, develops, directs, manages and assesses all aspects of Student Affairs academic support programs and services, including the Academic Skills Center, the Student Accessibility Services Department, Case Management, FYSEP and King Scholars programs, and the Undergraduate Deans Office. The Associate Dean fosters close collaborations with faculty, students and staff to address undergraduate student academic and personal support needs, to promote undergraduate student success and to promote Dean of the College priorities. The Associate Dean serves as a member of the Dean of the College's divisional management team.

Functional Oversight
• Develops, implements and continuously evaluates the comprehensive student academic support services advising programs, staff caseload and programmatic assignments, and specific advising initiatives. (30%)
• Develops, reviews and manages unit operating budgets in consultation with the Dean, the Director of Fiscal and Human Resources and departmental leadership.
• Oversees recruitment, hiring, training, management and evaluation of student academic support services staff.
• Partners with the Dean of the College, deans of the faculty, divisional management team colleagues and other key campus partners to advance student success and to address trends in undergraduate student academic performance and retention. (20%)
• Collaborates with student affairs colleagues and campus partners in case management, student and community crisis response, and promotion of campus resources to support student success. (20%)
• Oversees the implementation and interpretation of institutional academic action/undergraduate performance standards, undergraduate enrollment status policies, course Incomplete agreements, and Student Academic Support Services, student records preparation, maintenance, retention and FERPA compliance. (10%)
• Serves in divisional senior staff in charge on-call rotation, responding to significant campus or student crisis issues after hours. (10%)
• Manages and provides direct services to students, parents and families in complex and sensitive cases. (5%)
• As a member of the divisional senior management team, advises the dean, engages in programmatic and divisional strategic planning initiatives and coordinates and executes complex projects in support of divisional priorities as assigned. Leads and/or serves on departmental, divisional and institutional working groups and committees as assigned. (5%)
