Your Role: The Assistant Vice President, Content & Storytelling is responsible for content gathering and creation, story development and distribution across NYCEDC's owned channels, and working closely with the Senior Vice President and Vice President of Public Affairs on execution of an organization-wide communications strategy.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Collaborates with internal and external EDC partners to gather and create content that brings the work of the organization to life and spotlights its impact across the five boroughs of New York
  • Develops and executes a content/storytelling strategy that aligns with key organizational and communication priorities
  • Creates an editorial calendar of stories and content that can be featured across NYCEDC's platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.)
  • Work directly with City Hall and other agency communications staff to develop content and stories
  • Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • 5+ years professional experience in content development, storytelling, public relations, journalism and/or government agency-related work
  • Track record of identifying and developing compelling content
  • Strong writing and interviewing skills
  • Proven ability to interact with and coordinate consistent messaging and relationships across diverse internal departments, other city agencies and/or external partners.
  • Ability to develop creative story angles /ideas and effectively communicate complex issues
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Experience with social and digital media strategy
  • Creative, independent thinker, strong research and analytical skills
  • Other duties as directed by the manager
  • Must obtain/maintain New York City residency within 180 days of hire
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Displays confidence and leadership
  • Demonstrable interest in public policy, urban affairs and public affairs
  • Working knowledge of New York City government operations and current local issues
