The School of Social Work in the College of Social Sciences at Eastern Washington University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Social Work to begin September 2020.

The position is a nine-month academic year appointment.

The School of Social Work is fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. The School includes a full-time BASW and MSW program. It also offers Part-time Hybrid MSW programs located at sites throughout Washington state. Also in the School are the Center for Aging Studies, Disability Studies, Addiction Studies, and Children's Studies. The School has a long standing partnership with the State of Washington Children's Administration and is a partner in The Alliance for Child Welfare Excellence, a state-wide training partnership with the University of Washington and the Washington Children's Administration.

The School is a part of the College of Social Sciences which offers opportunities for creative interdisciplinary teaching and research. The BASW and MSW programs prepare students for generalist and advanced generalist social work practice in both rural and urban communities, offering elective courses in such areas of practice as behavioral health, addictions, aging, child welfare, healthcare, disabilities, and domestic violence.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will have teaching responsibilities in both the BASW and MSW programs. The faculty member will be expected to teach social work practice courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels and therefore a minimum of two years post-MSW degree direct social work practice experience is a requirement for a successful candidate. In addition, all tenured/tenure track faculty are expected to teach in our hybrid programs which requires proficiency or willingness to learn to develop and teach courses using Canvas and to employ online teaching methods and tools. There will likely be occasional travel to our satellite teaching sites in Everett, WA and Vancouver, WA, both located on the western sides of the state. Additionally, all faculty are expected to actively participate in assessment of student learning and to engage in effective teaching.

Faculty responsibilities include maintaining an active research and scholarship agenda, and engaging in service to the school, college, university and community.
