Job Description

J.P. Morgan Asset Management is seeking a talented Head of Email Operations to join the Global Demand Generation and Performance Analytics Digital team. The Head of Email Operations will be responsible for managing email development and distribution globally for the Asset Management business. This individual will be 1/3 technologist, 1/3 project manager and 1/3 marketing strategist. They will be accountable for managing the outsourced email operations process and team, while working with marketers and technology experts to craft a marketing automation platform strategy that will enable the organization to keep pace with the latest marketing trends and capabilities.


The role will be in support of global marketing activity and will require that they work closely with stakeholders around the world. The role requires a person who is naturally collaborative and versed in different interpersonal communication strategies. While supporting stakeholders is important, the person will need to balance this attribute with the ability to develop strong points of views and the ability to defend them. A successful candidate will be able to demonstrate competence and leadership through the face-to-face interactions with their peers. Excellent communication and presentation skills are a must.


The role is digitally intensive and it is expected that the candidate have a high level understanding of the marketing automation ecosystem and the role that these digital platforms play in the larger martech stack. Although expertise on a specific platform is not required, an understanding of marketing automation capabilities and their application within marketing tactics is critical. The Head of Email Operations must be self-sufficient and have the ability to align to surrounding business, marketing, and communications strategies.


Although the role has supporting staff, this is a hands-on leadership role that requires balancing between vendor management, project management, ownership of assigned tasks and the execution of deliverables on time, on budget, and with attention to quality.


This person must ensure the internal and external teams are on track on a daily basis. This role sets the tone for the team in terms of establishing support, guidance, priorities, morale, energy level, and a high quality standard.

 Responsibilities include:
  • Oversee the planning, orchestration, and execution of the marketing automation roadmap and strategy
  • Act as the internal marketing automation SME
  • Manage email vendor and related email offshore operations team
  • Work with the business and technology to define clear actionable goals
  • Have experience developing strong organizational processes
  • Analyze platform and process performance and turn insight into actionable optimization
  • Deliver measurable improvements against agreed upon KPIs
  • Define and educate the organization on best practices
  • Partner with other specialist digital teams for features development, design/UX, content, analytics across digital channels

  • At least 6-8 years of work experience, preferably with hands-on experience with marketing automation platform and/or project management
  • Must have a strong understanding of the marketing automation marketplace, specifically capabilities across major platforms (SFMC, Marketo, etc.)
  • Experience in the financial services industry is not necessary
  • Strong time management and organization skills; able to maintain a high quality of work in a deadline driven environment
  • Experience managing 3rd party vendors and offshore teams
  • Proactive with a high level of attention to detail; quick learner who can adapt to changing priorities
  • Must demonstrate initiative and ownership of assigned responsibilities
  • Must be able to establish strong relationship with the business and project stakeholders to ensure that business goals are met
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact confidently with all levels of management
