This role is a part of the Tax team within our Finance group, supporting the international and domestic tax teams.

What you'll do
  • Support the International Tax Manager and Director on a variety of U.S., international, and foreign country income tax matters, including foreign tax audits and document requests from foreign accounting offices
  • Assist in the preparation of Federal, State, U.S., international, and foreign income tax returns and tax related computations supporting income tax provision process, business operations and business transactions
  • Review and monitor monthly income tax accruals
  • Assist in providing FATCA related documentation and monitor FATCA related issues
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual provision
  • Research technical issues, prepare write up and communicate conclusions to management for implementation
  • Play a supporting role on transactions, projects, controversies, regulatory developments and legislative analysis depending on the circumstances
  • Assist in the tax department with the continued implementation of emerging technologies, data wrangling tools and analytical tools such as Alteryx, Tableau, advanced Excel 
  • Assist in coordination and delivery of the tax technology transformation initiative for the department including identifying and developing automation of Tax Processes
  • Assist with identifying and implementing tax technology best practices utilizing all available applications to drive operational improvements and efficiencies across the American Airlines Tax Department, including collaboration with other business units, and participating in technology user groups within and outside of American
All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent experience/education
  • 3 years of progressive income tax experience in public accounting firm and/or a Fortune 500 company

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • CPA
  • Master’s degree in Accounting/Taxation or MBA
  • Experience working with analytical tools such as Alteryx, Tableau, etc. 
  • Analytical skills: Data transformation, visualization, analysis, dashboarding, reporting

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Detail-oriented, organized, takes ownership of projects, and is able to deliver on tight deadlines
  • Must have the ability to work in a fast-pace, dynamic environment, and solve problems
  • Ability to successfully interact with professionals within the tax department and from other areas of the company
  • Knowledge of OneSource Income Tax, Hyperion, SAP
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and ASC 740
