American Airlines’ Network Planning team is at the center of the strategic direction and the everyday functioning of the world’s largest airline. We decide where we fly, how often and on what aircraft, with the goal of providing the most convenient and connected network for our customers worldwide. This posting is for a role on our International planning team, responsible for AA’s long-haul network to Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia/Pacific including the relationship with our Joint Business partners British Airways, Iberia, Finnair, Japan Airlines, Qantas and Level.

What you'll do

Team members are responsible for network and capacity decisions in a specific region of the world. This includes changes in AA’s own network - like adding new routes - and the coordination with our JB partners to keep refining our joint network strategies. As an analyst on our team, you will:

  • Work on developing the strategy for our long-haul network and pushing the boundaries of the airline
  • Become an expert for a particular geographic region and key point of contact for our partners in that region
  • Collaborate with commercial and operational stakeholders across the company to build an attractive and reliable network
  • Track the financial performance of individual markets and develop plans to maximize profitability
  • Conduct ad-hoc analyses using a wide variety of internal and external data sources

This position requires international travel.

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • ​Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline: Operations Research, Mathematics, Engineering or equivalent experience/training
  • 2 years experience in airline Network Planning/Scheduling, Revenue Management or analytical field, or Master’s degree in a related field

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Graduate Degree
  • 2 years experience in modeling, project management, and/or data manipulation at American Airlines

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Ability to solve complex problems and puzzles in a constrained and dynamic environment
  • Ability to leverage understanding of the airline business and commercial goals to drive results and innovative solutions
  • Ability to be adaptive to new ideas and business processes in an ever-changing marketplace
  • Ability to challenge self and team to develop future-oriented network strategies
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate, work with cross-functional groups to drive outcomes which benefit the entire airline
  • Skilled at sharing knowledge to develop the expertise of the team as a whole
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Knowledge of Air Vision Schedule Manager
