About The Job

This job is a member of the Network and Schedule Planning Team within the Network and Scheduling Division. This position will be responsible for analyzing and developing future network schedules that are designed to maximize American’s profitability, working collaboratively with all groups within the Network Planning and the rest of the Commercial organization.

 

Specifically, you’ll do the following:

  • Drives network capacity decisions through the use of data and develops efficient and operable schedules
  • Solves complex network problems by developing innovative solutions for the business
  • Drives consensus on capacity decisions working collaboratively with his/her peer
  • Conducts financial forecasting, airline profitability analysis, fleet and strategic planning
  • Prepares in-depth cause and effect analysis on various complex financial issues, and develop competitive industry analyses and key financial performance metrics
  • Presents results and makes recommendations to rest of Network Planning and to Sr. Management, regarding future capacity decisions and market adjustments
  • Deploys aircraft resources to optimize the fleet for maximum revenue potential while working to minimize cost
  • Evaluates information from multiple internal customers and plan solutions that afford maximum probability of profit or effectiveness in relation to cost, risk and operability
  • Regularly evaluates operational schedule alternatives to improve reliability while maximizing revenue and ensure adherence to multiple operational criteria
  • Develops optimal schedules for the American and American Eagle North American network, and integrate world-wide schedules into US Domestic hubs, including American Airlines, American Eagle and oneWorld partners
  • Partners with internal and external operating groups to ensure schedule feasibility and reliability
  • Provides data and analytical support for the Scheduling and Planning processes
  • Regularly uses both manual and modeled solutions to solve both operational and technical system problems
  • Routinely identifies and troubleshoots schedule problems with ongoing optimization of the flight schedule and the business process that supports its build

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent experience/training
  • Planning, scheduling, revenue management, finance, accounting, or computer science experience 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years experience in airline Network Planning, Revenue Management or Financial analysis
  • Previous experience with Airvision Schedule Manager
  • Knowledge of American's worldwide network and its primary competitive networks
  • Operational experience helpful to accomplish reliability and operability functions which position demands
  • Understanding of the airline business, commercial goals and how to translate these into strategic network and fleet plans
  • Proven financial and analytical skills, including ability to logically structure analysis of complex issues and develop creative solutions
  • Flexibility in adapting to new ideas/approaches and business processes
  • Ability to work with cross-functional groups and quickly develop relationships
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects on an ongoing basis
  • Advanced Excel skills
