​This job is a member of the Finance Team within the Finance Division.  The Financial Analyst assists in the design and implementation of a comprehensive strategic planning process and operating expense budgets.  Tracks financial and productivity performance, forecasting manpower analysis, cost reduction studies, and analysis related to facility and equipment requirements.  Monitors and develops strategic studies and action plans.  Presents results to senior management.  Coordinates long-term planning activities to ensure consistency and compliance with corporate action plans.  Evaluates competitive strategies and industry trends to determine impact on current or contemplated action plans.  

What you'll do
  • ​Participate on projects that help drive business recommendations or decisions
  • Evaluate competitive strategies and industry trends to determine impact on current or contemplated action plans
  • Develop reports which can lead to informed decisions by business leaders
  • Coordinate near and long term planning activities to ensure consistency and compliance with corporate action plans
  • Build long range forecasting models that help drive investment, sourcing and operational decisions
  • Performing financial analyses, and communicating results to senior management.  
    • Quantifying fully-burdened operational unit costs
    • Develop long-term expense and labor forecast models to support various initiatives
    • Evaluating AA's internal cost gaps vs. outsourced suppliers
  • Analyzing strategic initiatives to drive cost improvement and operational efficiencies
  • Coordinating data gathering efforts/analyses across multiple Integrated Ops departments (Operation, Production, Engineering, Planning, Scheduling, etc.) and other AA departments

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience/training
  • 2-3 years of related work experience
  • Advanced Excel modeling skills


Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • ​MBA or graduate degree with emphasis in Finance, Economics, and/or Quantitative Analysis preferred
  • Experience using SAP, BW, Hyperion Essbase, and other AA databases preferred


Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Strong quantitative, strategic thinking, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Understanding of discounted cash flow analysis, forecasting techniques and variance analysis
  • Adaptability and flexibility in the use of analytical approaches pertaining to financial issues
  • Capacity to assimilate, synthesize, and analyze, large volumes of data
  • Excellent teamwork skills, with proven ability to work effectively in a variety of situations with patience and diplomacy
  • Ability to accept ownership, responsibility and accountability of functional obligations
  • Proven success in a team environment and ability to influence change
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work well with little supervision, and manage a number of projects simultaneously
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Software (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to create and deliver PowerPoint presentations to all levels within the organization including Vice President and above
