  • ​This job is a member of the Data Strategy Team within the International and Cargo Division.
  • The team supports and collaborates with multiple departments on areas related to business intelligence (BI), analytics and performance metrics. The selected individual will have the opportunity to support the Cargo and International Ops Strategy team’s application and governance of advanced analytics. Apart from reporting and data analysis, the future team member will generate data pulls and create innovative reports and data visualizations, participate in projects related to the application of statistical models to solve current business needs, put together workflows to efficiently transform data into actionable or insightful outputs, and automate or improve existing data-centric business processes.
What you'll do
  • Develop BI reports and dashboards that can improve decision-making processes and enhance self-service analytics. This will include working with different areas to understand and document business requirements
  • Support the Cargo Analytics Community and similar initiatives within the Division that strengthen articulation between power users and distinct analytics groups
  • Create robust data pulls that can be automated and scheduled depending on the business need and deploy MVP business apps that can support self-service
  • Work with third-party data providers to manage existing data feeds and analyze and support possible implementations of new external data services and data products
  • Collaborate with business areas to identify data gaps and possible solutions. Participate in the design and implementation of new datasets as well as the maintenance of the existing ones
  • Support initiatives to incorporate AA’s big data platform into the team’s data projects and design data mining or big data oriented solutions to solve for current business needs
  • Identify and assess opportunities to leverage new information technologies, collaborate with external vendors to explore alternatives and create action plans for implementation
  • Help promote initiatives within the organization to increase transparency and visibility of existing reports and data sources
  • Participate in documentation efforts to organize and maintain updated data definitions and report specifications within the organization
All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • ​Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience/training
  • Significant coursework or experience in a quantitative discipline (engineering, statistics, computer science, finance, etc.). 
  • 2+ years related experience
  • Experience using SQL, Python or R


Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • MBA/MS
  • Solid experience in SQL
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Working knowledge of R and Python
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or PowerBI
  • Fluency in data and BI tools such Alteryx, Access or SAS
  • Experience with statistical or advanced analytics projects
