We are currently seeking skilled and team-oriented applicants for the following position: Accommodation Specialist

This position is in a fast paced working environment that relies heavily on a team approach and the ability to effectively manage a subgroup of 900+ cases. This position facilitates the provision of reasonable accommodations for qualified university students with disabilities to ensure inclusive and equitable access to the programs, services and activities of the institution. The Accommodations Specialist employs an individualized and interactive process, communicating with University students, instructors, department administrators and other student services staff to ensure accommodations are reasonable, appropriate, and comply with federal and state law and University policy.

The Accommodations Specialist assists faculty and staff in developing fair and effective instructional methods and adaptations to provide classroom access for students with disabilities. This position conducts campus-wide training activities for students, faculty and staff on disability, rights and responsibilities under the law, and best practices regarding reasonable accommodations and inclusive design in a post-secondary environment. Position is expected to maintain strict confidentiality standards, including maintaining confidential and accurate student records.

Eastern Washington University is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer, and applications from members of historically underrepresented groups are especially encouraged.</p> <br /> <p> </p> <img src="https://analytics.click2apply.net/v/G7a86NSa62J4TpLZiWaD7"> <br/><br/><strong>Required Qualifications</strong>: <ul> <li>Master's degree in a related field, such as Education, Rehabilitation Counseling, Counseling, Disability Studies, Counseling Psychology, Communication Studies, Psychology, or Social Work;</li> <li>At least 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.</li> <li>Understanding of disability rights and disability culture;</li> <li>At least 3 years of experience in a collaborative process of assessment, planning, facilitation, care coordination, evaluation and advocacy for options and services to meet a student's comprehensive educational needs through communication and available resources;</li> <li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and presentation software;</li> <li>Professional caliber written and verbal communication skills;</li> <li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including sensitivity to students in crisis and the ability to calmly engage in potentially difficult conversations with faculty, parents, and other stakeholders;</li> <li>Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion;</li> <li>Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks/projects and complete work within deadlines;</li> <li>Basic understanding of federal and state laws regarding disability rights.</li> <li>Candidate must demonstrate interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility and/or diversity.</li> </ul> <strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong>: <ul> <li>Proficiency in SharePoint and Banner;</li> <li>Direct experience working with college or young adult population with mental health, learning, attentional, or chronic health conditions;</li> <li>Experience interpreting a variety of documentation and determining appropriate actions;</li> <li>Proficiency working with an accessibility database, preferably <span class="caps">AIM</span>;</li> <li>Conversational knowledge of American Sign Language (<span class="caps">ASL</span>).</li> </ul> <br /><br /><br /><p>PI118003293</p>
