General Description: Niagara County Community College is seeking an Accessibility Services Coordinator to work in our Career and Transitional Services department. This position will report to the Program Administrator for Accessibility Services and will position oversee the coordination and provision of services for disabled students requesting accommodations to assure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act ( ADA ), Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and other federal laws and regulations pertaining to persons with disabilities at the College. This individual also serves as a resource for students regarding their accommodation(s), academic performance, registration, and referral to appropriate resources. Evening/weekend hours may be required.

Typical Work ActivitiesEssential Functions:
1. Coordinate provision of services for students with disabilities.

2. Oversee day-to-day operations of Testing Center.

3. Review, evaluate, and interpret documentation and self-reported information and communicate with students, families, and clinicians to determine how to most effectively accommodate a student and minimize barriers created by disability.

4. Create long-term accommodation plans for students registered with Accessibility Services and apply a case management approach to tracking and documenting student progress, to include developing, managing, and evaluating a plan for academic success for students, with consideration of disability.

5. Initiate intervention for students at risk of failing courses, work with students to identify semester-specific issues, and work with campus offices to provide bridge to get students help to improve academic support.

6. Maintain current information regarding state and federal laws and regulations as well as best practices concerning the rights of these students and ways of providing reasonable accommodations to persons with disabilities while maintaining program standards.

7. Regularly meet with Testing Center staff to ensure integrity of the testing environment and process is maintained; stay apprised of test, technology, and faculty issues related to students using the Testing Center and issues related to student accommodations.

8. Advise faculty regarding reasonable accommodations for exams and accommodations in the classroom and work with faculty to create accommodations that protect the academic integrity of coursework and testing instruments.

9. Provide training and act as consultant to students and faculty regarding use of adaptive technology in the classroom.

10. Maintain web content for Accessibility Services and Testing Center, and ensure that information on services, accommodations, and policies related to persons with disabilities is readily available to both the campus community and the public.

11. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions: Ability to relate to a diverse student population and academic community, including individuals with disabilities; Ability to manage multiple functions; Technologically Proficient; Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Education, Social Work, or Counseling, or Bachelor's Degree and the equivalent of four months (one full semester) full time experience working in an educational environment or working with individuals with disabilities.

Desirable Qualifications: Masters Degree in Student Personnel/Higher Education Administration, Special Education, Counseling, Social Work, or related field. Experience providing services directly to students with disabilities, preferably in an educational environment. Experience working with Ellucian Banner, creating educational materials and publications, and giving educational presentations in a professional setting.
