In this role, the Vice President - Business Development for ADP TotalSource, will be a senior member of the leadership team responsible for researching, identifying and leading the Business Development activities that support the business' strategic growth objectives. This is a high profile position in a dynamic business, with the unique opportunity to work across the organization and have significant measurable impact on the growth and profitability of a market-leading Fortune 500 company.

 

You will provide leadership in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, business partnerships and channel optimization. The goal for the role is to support business unit strategies by identifying, vetting, and providing diligence to potential partners and targets to achieve growth and profitability objectives.

 

You will be responsible for leading acquisition and post-acquisition integration work streams, partnership and channel identification and framework, as well as, reporting on progress against strategic objectives. This role will partner closely with finance, business unit leaders, sales and corporate strategy.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

 

What you can expect on a typical day:

  • Leads market share growth of ADP TotalSource through the identification of channel (insurance broker, private equity, financial advisor, CPA, client, franchise, others), partnership (distribution, product), acquisition opportunities for ADP and other expansion related opportunities.
  • Responsible for the establishment of strategic frameworks for capitalizing on identified opportunities across the business and approaching new prospects.
  • Explore and coordinate the development of new product extensions/bundles as well as new product opportunities in support of strategic imperatives.
  • Client Acquisitions: Identify client base acquisition opportunities in the TotalSource space, Develop relationships with key industry players and potential partners/targets cultivate executive level relationships, lead due-diligence and valuations, partner internally with other BUs, lead internal and external contract negotiations, work with sales/implementation/service for successfully converting acquired client base to new platform, product, pricing and service model.
  • Ongoing management of ADP TotalSource relationships with existing strategic partners to deliver a broader range of Employer Services to ADP TotalSource clients
  • Identify, research, and analyze potential new business opportunities sourced from both internal and external resources from within ADP and selected markets
  • Develop business cases of major investments for recommendation to senior management and integrate potential partner firms/new business opportunities with ADP's internal strategies and resources. Evaluate financial position, strategy, markets, competitive products offerings and strength of operations
  • Manage and lead the internal business unit processes required to secure senior management approval and complete investment transactions. Coordinate with all appropriate corporate and external resources (e.g. Corporate Development, Legal, Finance, target firm principals, consultants, etc.) in an effort to complete transactions in a timely and effective manner
  • Lead and/or actively participate in discussions and negotiations with potential business partners, involving the principals and senior management from partner/target firms involved in potential commercial/strategic transactions.
  • Ensure the successful incubation/integration of new business into existing operations from the start of the transaction process until new reporting arrangements have been finalized and working relationships established.
  • Plays an analytical role leading the gathering of relevant statistical information across the business, conducting analyses, and the presentation of the overall performance of activities undertaken by the business development team. This analysis provides the business with useful insights for improved strategy formulation and informed decision-making, resulting in the improvement of performance across the business.
  • Responsible for the identification of new business opportunities through digital channels, online marketplace, and channel distribution strategies. 
  • Participate in Corporate and BU strategy discussions to develop a deep understanding of the company and industry and incorporate business development recommendations that support strategic direction. Maintain a deep understanding of and advise the business on industry trends and implications for business strategy.
  • Continue to stay abreast of the market, technology and competitive developments in targeted industry segments and geographic locations
  • Prepare and present findings, proposals, and ongoing updates to executive management.

TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE:

  • 10+ years' experience in analyzing new business opportunities
  • Previous experience at a large firm or consulting firm
  • Proven proficiency in designing and performing quantitative research and developing business cases for major investments
  • Experience in sales, new business development, alliances, and partnership with "C" level executives
  • Experience in leading change and creating a collaborative environment
  • Able to travel domestically 25-30%

A college degree is great but not required. What's more important is having the skills to do the job. If you don't have a college degree, other acceptable experiences could include:

  • Experience noted above, OR
  • Military experience where skills including teamwork, adaptability, organization, and follow-through will help you build team and client relationships, identify solutions, and achieve success
