This position is responsible for planning and executing periodic credit reviews and monitoring of credit portfolios. The Vice President, Consumer Credit Review will lead members of the Credit Review team in activities that analyze consumer and small business loan transactions and perform assessments of underwriting and portfolio management. Through these review activities, the team will independently opine on the adequacy of underwriting analysis, appropriateness of credit decisions, and effectiveness of the credit management process supporting credit quality. Between periodic reviews, the Vice President, Consumer Credit Review independently monitors credit risk trends within assigned portfolios, attends relevant meetings, and develops and maintains relationships with internal stakeholders responsible for credit approval and credit risk management. This position will report to a Credit Review Director and is located in Columbus (OH), Plano, (TX) or Wilmington (DE).

Responsibilities:

  • As a Reviewer-in-Charge, lead a team in reviews of the firm™s Consumer and Community Banking portfolios (Home Lending, Auto, Business Banking, Card, Asset Wealth Management Mortgage). This includes chairing meetings associated with planning, project kick-off, presentation of findings and formal closing.
  • Activities include coordinating team assignments, driving project scope and sample selection, evaluating internal controls and systems that mitigate credit risk, communicating with business and risk management, reviewing results to identify key issues and dimensioning the significance of those findings, recommending corrective action as needed, report writing, and archiving all relevant documents.
  • As team member, participate in reviews led by Credit Review team members. This includes analyzing the credit underwriting quality of individual and automated transactions, recording test results and conclusions in a work paper database, and participating actively in all review meetings.
  • Perform continuous monitoring of assigned portfolios and participate in portfolio review meetings.
  • Challenging the team to be innovative in coverage and approach, coaching on how to drive change.
  • Driving opportunities to understand and promote data analytics initiatives that support the department objectives.
  • Serve as an information resource on credit risk, policy and strategies.
  • Partner with Credit Risk Management stakeholders to establish strong working relationships while maintaining independence.
  • Ensure consistent application of firm wide Risk Policy as well as Credit Review Policies and Procedures.
  • Openly communicating and cascading messages from the leadership team, stakeholders, and regulators.
  • Engage in Industry and business forums to maintain current knowledge of the business and recommend changes when needed.
  • Complete special projects and research as assigned by the Credit Review Director.

Requirements:

  • Experienced credit professional with a minimum of 7 years of consumer and/or small business credit experience, credit risk management and risk strategies.
  • Firm understanding of how to employ data analytics to monitor and assess lending portfolios.
  • Previous Credit Review experience is preferred, but not necessary.
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated understanding of retail credit principles, financial analysis, and strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills required with ability to present complex issues to management.
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated, effective in a dynamic fast-paced environment and willing to take personal risk, responsibility, and accountability.
  • Proven ability and desire to learn quickly, be flexible, and think strategically.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently, with a high sense of urgency.
  • Works well individually and in teams, shares information, supports colleagues, and encourages participation.
  • Flexibility to travel as required.
