The Universal Banker position is responsible for providing customers with friendly, efficient, and professional service in an accurate and timely manner. This position is a dual-role position which requires processing all account transactions, cross-selling bank products and services, opening, maintaining and closing of all account types, and promoting business for the bank. This position is also responsible for managing and balancing a cash drawer in an accurate manner.



Universal Banker Tasks

1. Contribute to the attainment of bank office sales goals and related objectives by promoting the bank's products and services and by generating leads and referrals.

2. Develop business relationships with potential customers through sales calls, networking, and other outside activities.

3. Sell products and services to customers and recommend and refer to appropriate alternative investment options to customers.

4. Provide exceptional customer service promptly and efficiently processing customer transactions and promote positive public relations.

5. Research customer questions, resolve account issues and analyze account close-outs to assess the potential for future business.

Responsibilities for Universal Banker

1. Open accounts for new customers and prepare new account paperwork, applications and request the required identification

2. Identify the needs of new and existing customers and offer appropriate services currently available

3. Provide additional information to customers regarding promotions, contests and new account options

4. Promote banking services to current and potential customers

5. Assist in community awareness events to increase bank outreach and foster new business opportunities

6. Answer questions and customer concerns regarding checking and savings accounts

7. Proactively identify and inform customers of account status deficiencies and disputed transactions while providing options to resolve

8. Process and post various loan payments, record information in the database and issue a receipt confirming the transaction

GENERAL STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE:

1. Under normal circumstances absentee rate is average or below average.2. Willingly accepts new responsibilities.3. Must be a team player with a positive attitude and seek ways to solve problems.4. QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High School Diploma or equivalent required

2. Must have a minimum of 1 year of progressive teller/banking experience

3. Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to speak concisely

4. Ability to use time and resources efficiently in order to accomplish tasks

5. Professional experience anticipating common customer concerns and analyzing current procedures and processes for available improvements

6. Experience in efficient personal organization and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks

7. Thoroughness and meticulous attention to detail while seeking to identify and correct banking errors

8. Ability to express written concepts clearly and concisely using correct banking forms and paperwork when required

9. Experience seeking to improve and develop new process and ideas related to daily banking tasks

10. Knowledge of retail deposit and loan products, processes, and decision making authority

11. Knowledge of regulatory requirements for financial transactions

12. Knowledge of office methods, procedures, and practices including the use of standard office and teller equipment

13. Must be proficient in Excel and Word and Bank Core Systems

14. Work is performed within an office environment. Frequent mental and visual concentration for computer use is required. Potentially will drive to a seminar or one of the various bank locations. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.

16. Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. Must have a minimum of 2 years progressive teller experience. Must have satisfactorily passed a Principles of Banking class or be able to present proof of same from past work experiences.

17. Language Skills: Must possess good verbal skills to effectively communicate with internal/external customers. Strong written skills are needed to accurately and clearly describe the details of a variety of transactions. Current notary or ability to become a notary, as needed (based on needs of branch located in).

18. Computer Skills: Must be proficient in Excel and Word and Bank Core Systems, such as Jack Henry.

19. Physical Demands and Environmental Working Conditions: Work is performed within an office environment. Frequent mental and visual concentration for computer use is required. Potentially will drive to a seminar or one of the various bank locations. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
