Job Description
AECOM is seeking an Underground Distribution Design Manager to serve as CAD lead for engineering and design projects under a strategic underground program in California. Our team works on a variety of energy efficiency, resilience, and decarbonization initiatives for municipal, utility, and commercial and industrial clients.
This position will perform technical tasks on a variety of projects including energy efficiency, distributed generation, renewable energy, energy master planning, district energy systems, net-zero buildings, monitoring base commissioning, grid-interactive buildings, and building decarbonization.
The successful candidate will have an understanding and significant experience in engineering and technology principles and is very familiar with the design and construction of underground distribution infrastructure. She/he will be expected to lead and work successfully within a team environment and be able to communicate effectively with other project team members and customers. He/she will have a high level of initiative, motivation, and displays drive, energy and enthusiasm for getting things done. The successful candidate will be expected to support in the delivery of distribution infrastructure to customers and should have a working knowledge of electrical and civil systems.

The responsibilities of this role also include, but may not be limited to, the following:
Day to Day design and preparation of civil and electrical deliverables, documentation, packages and reports
Manage program design group (including remote staff) with workload planning, task estimating and budgeting, mentorship and performance management
Creating, enforcing, updating, and implementing program specific standards
Develop and maintain programmatic quality assurance program with respect to data management and deliverable execution
Contributes to a complete and integrated set of digital project content which includes identification of utility clashes, creation of relocation alignments and required documents by working co-operatively with team members to resolve issues
Perform constructability reviews to internal and external teams
Assist with preparation of project specification and contract documents
Reviews, checks and signs off work prepared by group
Applies strong knowledge of utility standards, guides, specifications, and procedures specific to working in California
Ensure that the technical and safety standards are maintained in all aspects of design work

Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
BA/BS + 8 years of relevant experience or AA/AS + 10 years of relevant experience
Extensive experience in the production of underground utility designs
Demonstrated experience in managing complex programs/projects and CAD teams
Demonstrated experience with California utilities
High level design and CAD skills, with thorough knowledge of data transfer between key software packages
Expertise in MicroStation (2D and 3D) platform (current and minimum 5yrs)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Confidence and expertise utilizing Autodesk packages (e.g. Civil 3D, Adv Steel) as well as Navisworks
Experience in the management of Common Data Environments including ProjectWise, BIM 360Experience leveraging laser scan or other data sets to inform design development
Interest in developing training presentations and drive talent development
Excellent attention to detail
