Overview

MSA Safety is looking for a dynamic Telecommunication Systems Engineer to join our organization. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals with solid technical skills and an aptitude for exceeding expectations.

The primary role of this position will be to provide design, implementation, upgrade and maintenance services for Cisco Unified Communications and Contact Center technologies.

Areas of responsibilities include Voice over IP (VoIP) solutions, Cisco SBCs (CUBE), Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM), Cisco Unity Connection, Cisco Unified Contact Center (UCCX), and WebEx.

Responsibilities interface with other IT teams and the business to provide requirements for Contact Center and collaboration technologies

Responsibilities

Description of duties and responsibilities:

Administration of Global Cisco VoIP Systems

Provide 2nd and 3nd level support by reviewing (initial triage) and resolving alerts within established service levels
Participate in design of infrastructure with collaboration from other groups and vendors
Support the deployment of new voice network technologies and upgrades of existing voice network technologies

Administration of Global Contact Center Systems

Provide 2nd and 3nd level support by reviewing (initial triage) and resolving alerts within established service levels
Provisioning and training of new agents
Monitor customer contact center technology including systems, applications, call routing and voice network traffic
Participate in the design of new contact center technologies and upgrades of existing contact center systems

Administration of Global Meeting / Video Conferencing Systems

Provide 2nd and 3nd level support by reviewing (initial triage) and resolving alerts within established service levels
Monitor all video and meeting solutions including WebEx, WebEx Room kits, and Microsoft Teams
Provide white glove service to executive or high profile meetings
Participate in the design of new video and meeting technologies and upgrades of existing meeting systems

Telecommunications Carriers Services Design, Implementation, and Management

Design, implement and troubleshoot Global Analog, PRI/TDM Voice, Voice Over IP and SIP network architecture and manage escalation with the telecommunications carriers' NOCs for trouble resolution
Work with carriers and network teams to develop WAN/LAN/Campus network architecture to support all IP telephony/VoIP requirements leveraging QoS, CoS, and DSCP markings for optimum voice performance
Oversee large scale migration from TDM/PRI trunks to SIP call paths
Produce project and test plans for implementations and upgrades ensuring performance quality through testing
Proactively update knowledge of carrier service offerings (analog, PRI/TDM, SIP/VoIP, cloud options, and etc.) to recommend solutions to improve the telecommunications network performance, reliability, and operational expenses

Telecommunications Systems Documentation/Reporting

Maintain Global Telephony Architecture Inventory and drawings
Update database of global DID's, dialing plans, equipment, licenses, and maintenance agreement
Develop, document, and maintain configuration standards & operating procedures for telecommunications voice systems and voice network
Create and publish PKI Reports to support the business



Qualifications

Special knowledge, skills and abilities required:

  • Ability to design, implement and troubleshoot Analog, PRI/TDM Voice, Voice Over IP and SIP network architecture and experience escalating with the telecommunications carriers' NOCs for trouble resolution

  • High level knowledge of firewall configuration and troubleshooting as it relates to voice network performance

  • Knowledge of IP Subnetting , Qos/CoS, and IPv4/IPv6 addressing schemes

  • Knowledge of routing and switching including Voice Gateway and LAN switch configuration and troubleshooting as it relates to VoIP architecture

  • Working knowledge of cloud based technologies (O365, Azure, Cisco)

  • Proven analytical and troubleshooting skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrated success in consistently meeting or exceeding deadlines

  • Successful track record working on multiple projects simultaneously

  • Proven ability to draft clear, concise, and accurate technical reports

  • Proficient with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Visio

Education and experience required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • This position is available at two different career levels based upon experience, education, etc:
    • Level II: 5 years in telecommunications system engineering; 2 years minimum experience in a Cisco environment

    • Level III: 7 years in telecommunications system engineering; 5 years minimum experience in a Cisco environment
  • Demonstrated experience in the design, implementation, and administration of the following:
    • Cisco Unified Communications

    • Cisco Unity components

    • Cisco WebEx and Microsoft Teams Conferencing Solutions

    • Call Recording Systems/Servers

    • Unified Communications Platforms for Integration with mobility platforms, video and chat

    • Telecommunications management and reporting systems

    • Voice Network architecture and routing(PRI/TDM, Analog, SIP, VoIP) working with the telecommunications carriers

    • Directory Services (e.g. Windows 2008+ AD, LDAP)

    • Internet Protocols (e.g. DNS, HTTP, SMTP, SSL, SSH)

  • Demonstrated experience with the design, configuration, maintenance and support of Cisco UCCX Contact Center Server Solution

  • Experience with designing and maintaining global private intra-company dialing plans and least cost routing solutions

  • Experience with different WAN /Campus network architecture and routing MPLS, Ethernet PL, IPVP, Dedicated Internet

Preferred:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience
  • Cisco CCNA Voice/ Collaboration or CCNP Voice/Collaboration Certifications
  • Cisco UCS and VMware training
  • Cisco UCCX Certification
  • Working knowledge with virtualization platforms
  • Experience with a large scale migration from TDM/Digital PBX telephone system to IP Telephony System
