Purpose of Position

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Senior Vice President, Surveillance and Stewardship, will lead the implementation of University Lands policies regarding operational integrity and environmental preservation of the 2.1 million acres of Permanent University Fund lands.

Essential Functions

  • Direct responsibility for leading the implementation of policies regarding stewardship of the lands.
  • Blueprint and implement organizational changes to increase digital capabilities of the surveillance efforts
  • Ensure compliance by operators on UL lands
  • Design and ensure execution of programmatic inspection regimen.
  • Collaborate effectively with Finance and Land teams to ensure prompt and complete assessment and collection of appropriate damages and other surface income.
  • Represent University Lands in interactions with surface lessees and with regional operations leadership of mineral lessees.
  • Responsible for special projects as needed and other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to evaluate complex issues and propose a range of solutions; must be able work independently with little to no supervision; high degree of professionalism, judgment, responsiveness and dependability are a must.  Must be proficient user of Microsoft Office programs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, with a strong preference for Engineering.
  • 10+ years of Oil and Gas operations experience including production operations, drilling/completions, water, and EHS related leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience deploying best practices in surface operations.
  • Demonstrated experience and success in transformation of organizational culture and capacity.

Working Conditions

  • May work around standard office conditions.
  • 25% Travel

Additional Information

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
