The Stroke Program Quality and Data Coordinator is a registered professional nurse, who ensures the effective and efficient operation of the stroke program as it relates to quality, both clinically and administratively. This position coordinates and maintains stroke patient care, treatment, and interdisciplinary care. This position collaborates with clinical educators in identifying, developing, and implementing educational activities for nursing personnel caring for the stroke patient. The person in this role maintains compliance with all regulatory standards (state and joint commission) and oversees process improvement initiatives with stroke coordinator and program director to improve performance. The coordinator will be primarily responsible for data abstraction and compliance with all data elements required under Joint Commission, state, and organizational regulations. This role will focus on the collection and analysis of data, with the program coordinator and director, to improve outcomes. This position will engage in Stroke related research. Additional responsibilities will include oversight of feedback to Acute Stroke team regarding stroke data and acute care outcomes, both internally and externally. The coordinator will seek out opportunities, makes recommendations and coordinate changes to integrate and enhance services with other functions/business units. There will be engagement in policy development, implementation, and evaluation. The coordinator will maintain quality management programs and develop and implement action plans to improve performance; continually monitoring for effectiveness and revising as appropriate. All activity within this role will maintain focus on the effective utilization of resources in a fiscally responsible manner.This role will also focus on strengthening transitions in care with the stroke coordinator and program director. The coordinator ensures and maintains Stroke Program compliance with all established regulations and legislative developments in conjunction with other program leaders.

This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.


EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing required. Masters degree in related field preferred.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Current Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of NJ. SCRN, CNRN, CCRN or CEN certification preferred. BLS HCP required.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum 2 years emergency medicine, critical care or neuroscience/stroke clinical experience required. Membership and active participation in professional organizations such as American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, Society of Neurosciences, American Association of Neurosciences Nurses or National Stroke Organization is required. Experience with data analysis is strongly preferred. Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.



Demonstrates the technical competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.


Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, hazardous substances, and potential injury. This position requires frequent walking and standing with occasional bending and stooping.
