Purpose of Position

Manage multiple Information Security driven initiatives. Assist in developing and continuously improving a project management methodology that aligns with the defined UT System operating and decision-making processes. Provide project management leadership and training to ISO and information technology resources.

 

Essential Functions

  • Provide executive leadership and management of programs with multiple complex projects by providing project management, program and project staffing, resource coordination, communication, conflict resolution, and oversight / quality monitoring at the system level.
  • Manage cross-functional programs and projects which are to be executed by resources within the UT System Administration (UTS) and across thirteen (13) academic and health institutions.
  • Partner with executive leaders to interpret high-level strategy direction into action.
  • Assist with translating requests into proposals, projects or programs. Develop detailed plans, schedules, budgets, staffing plans, and risk management plans for complex projects, and work with a variety of stakeholders to staff the project.
  • Monitor and manage cross-functional and multi-disciplinary relationships and creatively resolve conflicts between project stakeholders to ensure project goals are met.
  • Monitor budgets and schedules to assure compliance with approved budget and goals.
  • Oversee execution of UTS and institution project plans, and rollup into a master schedule. Identify and raise UTS and institution risks with leadership.
  • Ensure that operations are efficient and cost effective and that financial information is reliable.
  • Ensure consistent application of all standard project management processes, tools, and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with UTS PMO leaders and PMO leaders across the academic and health institutes to initiate and develop process improvements for projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

 

  • Proven ability to work on large strategic initiatives, and effectively manage, deploy, and implement solutions that meet expectations.
  • Ability to work well in virtual teams, be self-directed, and work independently while facilitating the efforts for multiple cross-functional teams.
  • Assist in product evaluations, recommendations, and presentations.
  • Must have strong communication skills.
  • Capability to rapidly isolate and solve risks and issues. Ability to coordinate work of resources that do not report into the ISO department.
  • Good negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with business process mapping is a plus.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project Online and PowerBI is a plus.

 

 

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in management information systems, business management or a related field. Minimum of 10 years' complex project management experience.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a higher education environment. Experience managing information technology projects is strongly preferred.

 

 

Working Conditions

  • May work around standard office conditions.
  • Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
  • Requires occasional evening or weekend hours.

 

Additional Information

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
