Amgen's Development Supply Chain (DSC) team within Manufacturing and Clinical Supply is seeking a Supply Chain Sr. Associate who would be responsible for Global Study Planning and associated analytics processes. DSC is accountable for the end-to-end delivery of Amgen's clinical products, including planning, procurement, scheduling & capacity management, warehousing and worldwide distribution. Additionally, DSC teams are accountable for product set up, business process management and technology solutions to configure new products into the company's clinical supply chain. As an integral part of Amgen's Process Development organization, DSC provides an innovation ecosystem for supply chain professionals. DSC supports differentiating, multi-modality manufacturing and enables the set up and ongoing support of innovative and biosimilar products in our clinical trials.

The Supply Chain Sr. Associate will Execute Demand and Supply Planning processes for dedicated global clinical studies. This role will ensure Finished Drug Product (FDP) supply from study start through last patient dosed and is involved until study closure. This individual will support efficient and effective operational inventory management while minimizing scrap. In addition, the ideal candidate will leverage his/her quantitative and Supply Chain expertise to drive automation and continuous improvement and embed digital ways of working in DSC to develop end to end planning process. The role will enable data-driven decision making and help build foundational capability to provide end-to-end visibility into business processes.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Ensure supply in the central warehouses and all sites that participate in the clinical trial
  • Balance the right amount of inventory with the scrap risk utilizing management guidance regarding inventory levels
  • Promptly identify and escalate risks to study timelines or clinical supplies, from a supply chain perspective, to all key stakeholders and internal management
  • Utilize systems to effectively manage key product such as the Forecasting system, SAP, Hospital inventory and dosing systems. Utilize dashboard controls and internal documents as a source for daily activities
  • Use analytics tools and scientific rigor to produce actionable insights
  • Ensure delivery of efficient, agile, integrated business and system processes
  • Lead/co-lead digital pilots and ensure they are successfully launched and scaled
  • Develop/co-develop digital solutions to support end to end planning processes
  • Create and maintain user requirements for digital products
  • Synthesize input into prioritized feature list and create User Stories (requirements) for each feature
  • Articulate clearly the clinical supply chain management processes and strategies to key stakeholders
  • Negotiate resolution of resource conflicts where necessary and actively participate in planning meetings to ensure that project needs, priorities, and timing are understood


Basic Qualifications:

Master's degree

OR

Bachelor's degree and 2 years of Supply Chain experience

OR

Associate's degree and 6 years of Supply Chain experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 8 years of Supply Chain experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master of Science in Engineering or Computer Sciences
  • 1+ years or expertise in Supply Chain data analytics
  • Knowledge of end-to-end supply chain, drug development, and manufacturing processes
  • Experience in applying Process Improvement and Analysis tools, Root Cause Analysis, Standard Work and Daily Management Systems
  • Quantitative and qualitative skills in supply chain analysis
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data, and use judgment to draw conclusions
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while consistently delivering quality end-product. Handle multiple responsibilities, priorities and tasks with minimal direction
  • Existing Python and/or R and/or SQL programming languages.
  • Must be able to learn and become proficient in additional Analytics and Supply Management tools including ANAPLAN, Rapid Response and SAP
  • Experience writing technical documents, including specifications
  • Strong requirements management skills and experience
  • Ability to bridge functions, particularly technical and non-technical worlds
  • Adept in breaking down complex issues into concise analytical packages and executive messages to enable prompt decision making
  • Strategic as well as tactical approach to problem-solving
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, including public speaking
  • Excellent written communication skills including attention to detail and organization
  • Ability to collaborate across various parts of the organization
  • Strong project management and scheduling experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and decision-making skills
  • Understanding of Agile and Lean Startup principles
  • Functions effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives
  • Ability to operate in a matrixed team and dynamic environment
  • Strong interest in learning new things, ability to take on tasks with limited information and/or guidance
