AHP is seeking a passionate, energetic, and knowledgeable senior associate interested in improving and enhancing services for youth with substance use disorders in California. The right candidate will have significant knowledge and experience in youth and youth SUD services, as well as specific evidence-based practices. In addition, the candidate should possess strong speaking, collaborating, and writing skills. The Senior Program Associate will help manage projects; attend to fiscal concerns; complete project deliverables; carry out meeting, training, and technical assistance activities; and promote new business.   • Serve as a subject matter expert on the needs, interventions, effective treatments, and recovery supports for youth and young adults with substance use disorders especially opioid and stimulant use disorders, and their families.
  • Provide consultation through meetings, webinars, presentations, and development of resource materials on effective services for youth with SUDs, their families, and communities.
  • Identify resources and best practices that address the needs of specific populations of youth including BIPOC youth, youth experiencing homelessness, and those with justice or child welfare involvement.
  • Support the development youth advisory groups and inclusion of youth voice in program and policy development.
  • Plan and facilitate learning communities, working meetings, and product development.
  • Develop and conduct high level, professional webinars and other consultation services related to the needs of youth and families.
  • Work with stakeholders to expand visibility, encourage service improvements and represent YOR California/AHP in state and community meetings.
  • Draft web content, messages, and project reports.
  • Monitor data collection and contribute to data analysis and quality improvement.
  • Develop and manage implementation and work plans including tracking, working with partners, and identifying necessary resources and supporting staff.

Specialized Requirements

  • Applicants must have five years of progressively more responsible experience addressing needs of youth and young adults with substance use disorders.
  • Strong knowledge of ASAM and the continuum of SUD services, youth development, developing youth voice, at least two evidence-based practices relevant for youth, and effective outreach.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver trainings, provide problem-solving consultation, manage projects and address diversity, equity and inclusion goals also required.
  • Experience working with California stakeholders and partners in improving youth services preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English strongly preferred.

Education and Training

Candidates for this position must possess a bachelor's degree. A master's degree in social work, behavioral health, public health, or similar field is strongly preferred. Professional experience may be substituted for the education requirement.


We are seeking candidates with at least five years of progressively more responsible work experience including management and supervision of complex processes and procedures, grants or contracts, and staff performance. A Ph.D. can be substituted for two years of experience.
