This role is responsible for managing a large team of experienced professionals in communications systems engineering and network engineering. This leadership position directs key activities in the program and project life cycle including technology roadmap development; customer focused technical solutions development, detailed network designs, and comprehensive systems solutions. This leadership position requires an individual that can effectively develop and mold a coherent team of systems engineers that can tackle the most challenging industry initiatives and customer feature sets.
Primary Responsibilities:
Directs the activities of systems engineering personnel involved in designing the next generation feature set of the GLOBALink system
Manages the industry engagement for the airline communications
Manages across multiple engineering disciplines and teams to provide coherent comprehensive solutions
Oversees the systems engineering team that provides systems engineering for embedded communications protocols, RF systems, network management systems, networks, communication algorithms, and database systems
Guides systems adaptation of security standards and solutions.
Manages the systems best practices, evolving the systems processes and ensuring compliance
Basic Qualifications:
Experience with systems engineering, including requirements development and decomposition, systems and sub - system design, and interface design
Experience in high availability systems
Experience in communications systems
Experience in complex systems designs
Experience in developing customer statement of needs and feature sets
Experience leading small engineering teams
Experience in a service based product line
Bachelors degree and 8 years of relevant experience
OR
Advance degree and 5 years of relevant experience
OR
In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. Collins Aerospace will not offer sponsorship for this position
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent technology discipline
Advanced Degree in engineering
Experience in aeronautical industry committees
Experience in airline communications
Experience in VHF and HF RF technologies
Experience in network security standards
Experience in WAN network technologies and designs
Experience developing systems monitoring solutions
Experience developing systems performance standards
