GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF JOB PURPOSE
Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes. Produces products according to specifications, using the most cost effective and efficient means. Analyzes and evaluates new or improved electronic components. Includes power generation, transmission and distribution, rotating machinery, illumination, wire communication systems and servomechanisms. Includes circuit theory, computer design and development, instrumentation, radio communications, semiconductor devices, solid state devices, and television systems.
MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES OR TASKS
Coordinates and facilitates the design, fabrication, modification, and evaluation of electronic apparatus, components, or circuitry for use in electronic equipment and devices, ensuing work is completed on time and established quality and budgets are achieved.
Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems and networks to ensure that business objectives and required specifications are met.
Performs engineering work and applied research, development, and design of new products to ensure quality standards and business objectives are met.
Ensures hardware and software standards are met.
Requirements capture, ASIC / FPGA digital architecture and design using RTL, timing analysis and closure, and lead verification, and system integration
RTL coding and simulation in VHDL or Verilog
Creation of written test cases, code coverage tracking, and functional coverage tracking
Integrates FPGA/ASIC designs in a collaborative lab environment
Work directly with verification environment architecture and design using SystemVerilog with OVM/UVM
Testbench development for the verification of RTL blocks using VHDL or SystemVerilog
Recommend new tools and practices for continuous improvement in the group's ASIC / FPGA design flow
OTHER TASKS
Uses independent judgment to make decisions in day-to-day job responsibilities the majority of the time under general supervision
Attend and have participation in group meetings, teleconferences and/or training required.
Actively participate in initiatives for continuous improvement using ACE tools and support AS9100 efforts.
Support delivery team with project management activities by providing required project status artifacts.
Apply project management skills to assigned tasks/projects with minimum supervision.
Based on business needs, the incumbent may be required to support other duties/functions within the company.
Ability to work independently
Travel up to 5%
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering
5 years of related experience in Computer, Electrial or Electronic Engineering or 3 years experience with an advance degree
Experience with revision control concepts and tools
Experience in real time language RTL coding and simulation in VHDL or SystemVerilog
Knowledge of digital circuit architecture, design, resource tradeoffs, timing analysis and timing closure
Experience using ASIC and/or FPGA simulation and synthesis tools
US Citizenship due to government contracts
Good communication and presentation skills in English (verbal and written)
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Linux
Experience with chip-level verification techniques and languages (e.g. constrained random, functional coverage, SystemVerilog)
ASIC / FPGA lab validation with lab equipment (e.g. Osciliscopes, Logic Analyzers)
Experience with Object Oriented Programming concepts (e.g. Java, C++, SystemVerilog)
Experience with scripting (Unix, Python, and/or Perl)
Experience with digital circuit architecture, design, and resource tradeoffs
Experience with design for Test (DFT) and manufacturability issues
Experience with Subversion, ClearCase, Git, and / or RCS
Experience with Modelsim, Synopsys, FPGA-specific tools
Experience executing Testbench development for the verification of RTL blocks using OVM/UVM
Proficiency using ASIC and/or FPGA simulation and synthesis tools (e.g. Questasim, Synplify, Modelsim, FPGA-specific tools)
Works on assigned tasks independently
