This role is responsible for advising the TTS (Treasury and Trade Solutions) Business at a global as well as local level on all aspects including product development, deal support, technology, and data privacy. The suite of TTS Cash Management offerings includes Accounts, Deposit Services, Payments, Receivables, Liquidity Management, Channel Services, and Commercial Cards. TTS provides critical cash management services for institutional clients including top-tier multi-national corporates.

Working in partnership with the Business and control functions, the successful candidate will examine laws and regulations that affect the business and provide advice and guidance on applicability and implementation. Also, exercise sound legal judgment to review evolving product features and facilitate jurisdictional extensions of products and services. Responsibilities include reviewing product features within the legal and regulatory framework, and evaluating and advising on legal risk; following developments of a legal and regulatory nature as applicable to the business; providing advice on customer matters; participating in negotiations with vendors, strategic alliance partners, and/or clients; participating in internal projects; and performing other similar or related tasks as assigned. Matters are diverse and the global nature of the business can introduce varied considerations. Must be able to work independently, manage multiple assignments simultaneously in a demanding, fast-paced environment. Must be able to distill complex issues in a manner suitable to the audience, and analyze legal, reputational, and financial considerations. Strong knowledge of legal and regulatory environment is essential. Knowledge of financial market utilities a plus. The role involves extensive interaction with business team and other stakeholders including in-business control, operations, regional or country counsel counterparts, and cross-functional partners such as compliance, risk, and tax. Requires a committed effort to stay abreast of the regulatory and legal environment, internal policies, and industry trends that impact the Business.

The position is a member of the TTS Treasury Solutions Legal group supporting products that are global, North America regional, and/or U.S. domestic in scope. Through this role, the person will interface with the wider Citi organization, including Product, Sales, Technology, Operations, Risk, and Compliance, in the U.S. and cross-regionally.

The successful candidate is solution oriented and business practical, advising the Business on the risks and mitigants within the legal and regulatory landscape.


The successful candidate will have a Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and be admitted to a state bar.

Must have a minimum of 5 years experience, ideally in financial services and technology, or have a background in an institutional setting or an active corporate transactions practice. Areas of substantive knowledge include banking and cash management laws and regulations, corporate treasury activity, general contract law, intellectual property, software licensing, and corporate authority and documents. Specific payments, receivables, liquidity, and electronic banking channels knowledge a plus. Must have experience with complex deals, demonstrated ability to analyze issues and develop recommendations, and effective communication skills.
