Advocates for Human Potential (AHP) is seeking a Senior Business Development Associate to identify and close strategic sales opportunities in the state health and social services market. This position includes responsibility for conducting market research, identifying target market segments, monitoring the competition, forecasting projected business with AHP's leadership team and securing market share by prospecting, qualifying, proposing and presenting solutions to state agencies.

Responsibilities/What You Will Be Doing

  • Executing a sales strategy with teammates, targeting state agencies responsible for health and behavioral health care
  • Applying a consultative sales method, identifying client needs and potential solutions
  • Leveraging and developing professional affiliations and associations to develop relationships
  • Supporting the development and implementation of specific, actionable, and time-sensitive marketing and sales plans which will include prospecting, qualifying prospects, participating in preparation of proposals, and presenting solutions
  • Supporting the development of scopes of work, defining tasks and activities and developing estimations or pricing
  • Managing client relations, identifying additional opportunities
  • Working in conjunction with the AHP marketing team to develop marketing/sales collateral materials specific to markets and opportunities
  • Supporting the branding and promotion of AHP by attending and/or presenting at trade shows and conferences
  • Monitoring competitors' sales and marketing activities
  • Reviewing and analyzing sales performance with leadership on regular basis

The Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Minimum of five years sales experience in the state market is required
  • Minimum of five years' experience with and expertise in health, behavioral health and social services
  • Knowledge of states' health and behavioral health programs, Medicaid, and/or social services is required
  • Experience with program evaluation, technical assistance, training or consulting is desirable
  • Must be adaptable and be able to consistently deal with rapidly changing markets and market conditions
  • Ability to work independently and as a teammate on multiple projects
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively at an executive-level in both written and oral form
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required to develop and maintain effective working relationships across all levels within the organization
  • Must be a highly motivated, results-driven individual
  • Requisite poise, judgment, and trustworthiness to represent AHP in the community
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time

The Education and Experience You Should Have

  • A Bachelor's degree preferred
