Overview

The primary function of this position is to lead and develop a Building Event Operations team comprised of full-time, part-time and temporary labor that is efficient, accountable and innovative. The successful candidate will manage all aspects of the daily activities for Event Operations including the successful preparation, conversions and execution of events at the AT&T Center.



Responsibilities

  1. Ensure arena setup and equipment are in compliance with all NBA Operational requirements.
  2. Review, amend and train on operational procedures, preventive maintenance schedules, inventory controls, and setup inspections completing them to the highest standards.
  3. Lead direct reports who oversee employees in various functions. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  4. Maintain effective working relationships, manage performance and financials for third party contractors including but not limited to housekeeping, temporary labor and waste.
  5. Assist in the preparation of the annual operating budget and event cost estimates/analysis for specific areas of responsibility. Supervise cost accounting expenses including but not limited to house equipment rental, supplies, event supervision and staff.
  6. Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Advanced Degree in a related field, or related equivalent experience or equivalent training and experience in lieu of degree. (Minimum 5 years will be considered.)
  • A minimum of 2 years supervisory, management and/or leadership experience.
  • A minimum of 6 years of event experience with professional sports team(s) & concerts.
  • Must have a flexible schedule and the ability to work long hours, including overnights, evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills with diverse staff, tenacious work ethic and strong, written communication skills required.
  • Must be detail-oriented and highly organized with an ability to simultaneously handle multiple tasks and adapt to change.
  • Must be able to complete projects and resolve issues expeditiously, independently and with minimal supervision; must be able to show initiative and good judgment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills a must due to required correspondence in the role.
  • Demonstrate poise, tact and diplomacy.
  • Must have the ability to walk and stand for long periods and navigate through stairways in an arena setting.
  • Meet the physical demands of this job, which include being able to get in and around the facility (requires personal mobility), lifting (min. of 75lbs), carrying, moving, climbing, working from various heights, and moderate to loud noises.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and other computer skills as required.
