Advocates for Human Potential, Inc., (AHP) seeks a driven program associate for a unique chance to establish and build strong relations with Behavioral Health Workforce Development grantees in California. This is the perfect job for someone who is passionate about the power of community programs to change individual lives and families, strengthen communities, and improve the vital behavioral health workforce.

You'll serve as the grantees' liaison, making you the main point of contact. In this role you'll be integrally involved in managing communication and building strong working relationships, arranging logistics and meaningful training/technical assistance activities, leading productive monthly meetings, and conducting coaching calls to hear about progress and help grantees problem solve to meet their project goals and deliverables. This is a chance to truly work in partnership on important projects and help community grantees skillfully manage all administrative aspects of their grants.

  • Understanding of social policy on health and human service topics
  • Public health/social services/behavioral health background with an interest in programming, policy, and research
  • Budget planning, implementation, and oversight
  • Task management
  • Ability to quickly orient to new assignments
  • Ease in communicating with diverse groups and sharing knowledge
  • Desire to help individuals and communities


  • Proficiency with Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams (Microsoft)
  • Familiarity with SharePoint and virtual meeting platforms
  • Willingness to learn and use new software as needed

Education and Training

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in public health, behavioral health, social work, public administration, or similar field.
  • Master's degree preferred. Professional experience may be substituted for the education requirement.

Professional Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in community-based work, program management, research and/or behavioral health.
