Principal Software Architect

ADP is hiring a Principal Software Architect to be responsible for providing leadership, technology design expertise, direction, coordination, and consultation, in the development, integration, launch, scaling, and maintenance of new and existing products and solutions. Does this sound like you?

Things You'll Do:

  • Identify key application design patterns and standard application frameworks.
  • Guide initiatives to align with the HRO and overall ADP enterprise architecture standards, principles and platforms.
  • Provide design directives to software developers, including how to construct and integrate software, to meet all functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Describe fine-grained components, application programming interfaces and frameworks (development and runtime) of a system based on solution requirements.
  • Establish the strategic direction for solution design, build, deployment approaches, process, pattern, and frameworks.
  • Serve as design authority at a project level by understanding the business goals and technology constraints and designing appropriate solutions
  • Influence how a solution will be constructed, including selection and application of building blocks.
  • Design solutions that are forward looking while being compatible with existing technology.
  • Review implementation to confirm they conform with enterprise guidelines, patterns and security.

Experience You Need:

  • 10+ years of experience in architecture, designing, and building large scale distributed systems.
  • Experience with Microservices architecture, Design Patterns, API Design, System Integrations.
  • Proficient with Java/JEE technologies, Kafka, Reactive Patterns
  • Hands-on experience with Spring-boot and Spring integrations
  • Experience with Full stack development experience, JavaScript Frameworks.
  • Experience with cloud native tools, patterns, frameworks
  • Exposure to developing and deploying applications in containers and serverless stack.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS Solutions and Tools.
  • Exposure to big data and application engineering patterns with open source software.
  • Experience to devSecOps concepts, tools and demonstrable application background.
  • Extensive experience doing design and code reviews and providing guidance to development teams.
  • Soft skills such as whiteboarding to present different design options, incorporating feedback from teams, performing cost benefit and trade-off analysis, bias for practical use vs theory, etc.
  • Experience researching various approaches, doing proof-of-concepts, assessing pros and cons and presenting viable fit-for-purpose designs.
  • Exposure to software driven automation, reference patterns, architecture by code.
  • Good understanding of metric based architecture and making informed decisions about capacity, reliability, scalability of software components and underlying infrastructure
  • Experience with APM solutions (Dynatrace) and log mining tools (Splunk, ELK)
  • Experience with both RDBMS & No-SQL databases such as Mongo or DocumentDB
  • Experience with GIT, Jenkins, Ansible, CloudFormation
  • Experience working in an Agile Environment with good collaboration skills.
  • Ability to establish relationships with business, IT leaders and technology subject matter experts.
  • Ability to lead and work closely with different teams while quickly learning and applying concepts.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and demonstrate advanced problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills that include the ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally with technical and non-technical personnel at all levels.
