This is an exciting new role to the business created in order to bring capability and focus to:

*             A number of strategic business projects including

o             Integration of second US Bakery

o             Through development and automation reduce direct labor costs

o             Develop the production facility to manufacture all European produced North American volume

*             Own and develop the planned maintenance team and function to advance the efficiency of the site

*             Lead, own and develop the focus on CI delivering a positive change program.

*             To own all production, facilities and hard asset safety and procedural programs

*             Under the US Operations President, play an active part of the Site Business Team, working to holistically develop the business.

 

The role requires somebody with broad based experience across all areas of engineering and manufacturing who can credibly identify, lead and implement key business initiatives in the bakery working hand in hand with all functions.

 

The scope of the role may expand as its effectiveness is evaluated over the first 6-12 months.

 

Key Areas of Responsibility:

This is a key site role with direct responsibility for Projects, Continuos Improvement, Health & Safety, Environment and Maintenance as well as being a key member of the site and business leadership function.

 

In respect of all business change projects, the requirement is for the job holder to be capable of leading projects from planning to full implementation, delivering business benefits and timely communication to all key stakeholders along the way.  In respect of people the role is responsible for direct leadership of the engineering function, as well as the in-direct leadership of all operational functions at the Boulder Site.

 

The Initial Projects that the role will deliver:

1.            2nd US Bakery Move.

We are purchasing a second US bakery and this role will lead the development of the site to allow this production to move seamlessly as well as being part of the team to then close the existing site.  The finished product, although in the same market has a very different make up and processing requirement and will need significant change in the process to allow manufacture

 

2.            Cost Reduction.

The existing US on GF operates at c$0.38 cents per loaf, the role will justify and deliver a set of projects to reduce this over c 12 – 18 months to automate and optimize to reduce labor costs to c$0.21

3.            Within the group we produce products for America and Canada in Ireland and as a phase 2 the role will develop the processes and equipment to allow these products to be produced at c$0.21 c per loaf.

 

The role is responsible for all maintenance activities for the whole estate and facilities as well as all production equipment, using directly managed personal and well as contractors.  The role must ensure that legal compliance as a minimum is maintained.  The role is responsible for all planned maintenance activities and increasing efficiency is a key part of this role.

The role is the key site leader for Continuous Improvement, owning and delivering a program of positive change activities as well as creating a single team (Production, Engineering, Technical) to synergize the solutions.

The role will be recognized as the owner of all hard, non-people / culture / process safety systems.   The role will deliver full legal compliance as well as owning and delivering a program of reducing accidents and LTAs

Finally, a key area of responsibility is being a senior business leader, adding not only functional value and deliverables to the management team but also using their business breadth of knowledge to help generate the best program for the site through to sales.
