What you'll do

  • Embodies American Airlines leadership attributes and models the behaviors of Caring, Collaboration, Development, Results and Future
  • Collaborates and grows Oneworld and AA joint business partner relationships to maximize the value to American Airlines and our customers
  • Forecasts inflation/deflation and leads team members to mitigate inflation where applicable, manages overall rate/cost creep and obtain best value for American Airlines Group
  • Ensures adherence to department policies, company legal requirements, corporate ethics and business standards and Resource Approval Policy (RAP) compliance
  • Leads and influences others in order to facilitate the most effective solutions for achieving the balance between optimum service/product and value to produce required results
  • Motivates and leads staff to ensure that employees’ skills are utilized to the highest degree possible; lead coordination with Procurement Training to ensure on-going enhancement of staff and their respective skill sets
  • Provides vision and strategic direction to best serve internal customers by connecting their needs with leading external solutions
  • Coordinates complex financial and business analysis to support recommendations and decisions. Communicates and presents to all levels of management including officer level interaction
  • Manages relationship between supplier executive teams and company stakeholders to solidify strong business relationships
  • Plays an integral role in effective supplier management to include but not limited to conducting regular supplier/stakeholder meetings with business reviews to ensure effective communication and coordination
  • Identifies the root cause of problems, develop solutions and ultimately drive results

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • ​Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience/training
  • 5 years of relevant experience in Supply Chain, Finance, Economics or Business Administration / Management

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • ​Masters of Business Administration

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • ​Ability to be an action-oriented leader with the natural ability and desire to effectively engage employees, stakeholders and suppliers to produce the required results
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and effectively lead those in the span of care
  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout the Domestic and International network
  • Ability to apply Lean, Continuous Improvement and/or Six Sigma process
  • Skills in negotiation and contract management
  • Ability to manage competing priorities
  • Knowledge and application of airline / airport procurement
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to be innovative and strategically think
  • Strong process analysis/development skills
  • Knowledge of SAP/Coupa or other procurement related systems
