Maintenance Project Technician

This position is responsible for assisting with execution of all maintenance work control processes by coordinating work priority and assisting with development of job plans. Project Technician is also responsible for supporting PSM assurance projects. Works with the Maintenance Planner/Scheduler & Plant Engineer to assign work control plans to the appropriate Supervisor for execution by the hourly maintenance staff. Communicating with all members of the maintenance team including members of the operations team will be necessary.


  • Works as the principle contact person between maintenance and operations and other support departments to assure timely, efficient, and quality service.
  • Assists with long-range as well as short-range planning.
  • Assists with development and maintenance of planned and predictive maintenance procedures and routes as required.
  • Supports PSM Coordinator by maintaining a working knowledge of PSM regualtions and assisting in preparing PSM documents such as action item reports and PSM activities.
  • Assists with PSM and CMMS training for the maintenance staff.
  • Assists the Maintenance Planner with the availability of all materials and tools necessary to complete planned tasks in advance by running reports and interfacing with storeroom personnel.
  • Track mechanical downtime and run MRO reports for the Plant Engineer using a running database for weekly and monthly maintenance and Plant KPI's (Key performance indicators).
  • Updates Maintenance bulletin boards to reflect current work schedules and metrics.
  • Prioritizes all planned work orders as well as determining scope of activities.
  • Reviews completed work orders for completeness and accuracy, closes work orders when necessary.
  • Generates reports to keep the maintenance team informed of work progress and future work schedules.
  • Assists the Maintenance Supervisor to produce a weekly maintenance work schedule as well as a projected work schedule for the next three to four weeks.
  • Maintains essential records and files, prepares and distributes reports.
  • Utilizes CMMS and SAP programs, along with analytical platforms to forecast trends.
  • In the absence of key personnel the employee's supervisor or qualified designee (one that has been trained in the key employee's duties) is responsible to complete or delegate the completion of all required tasks and responsibilities.

  • 6 months of continuous work history within a manufacturing plant or in the food industry.
  • Basic mathematical skills required; addition and subtraction, multiplication and division.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to properly complete appropriate paperwork.
  • Working knowledge of basic computer skills, Internet, Word Processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Previous experience working with SAP is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of refrigeration is preferred.
