As Lead Data Security Engineer, you will join a highly skilled and focused team providing excellent data & endpoint protection services. We protect sensitive ADP client and company data during handling and throughout the data life cycle. Responsibilities include protecting the company from data exploitation or misuse, leading the enforcement of data security and privacy policies, and preventing malware impacts to mitigate operational risks associated with data in motion and at rest.

The Lead Data Security Engineer will have a deep understanding of data environments and data movement, including protecting end points, data threat vectors, and relevant mitigating controls. You will interact with numerous teams across ADP: IT Architecture, Engineering, Operations, Project Management, Legal, and Data Privacy to develop, enhance and drive the vision and effectiveness of the data security program.

Here's what you can expect on a typical day in the life of a Lead Data Security Engineer at ADP.

  • Work collaboratively with strategic product, information technology, and information security teams to create and drive a future vision for next generation data security and end point capabilities.
  • Develop, implement and operationalize risk-based end point and data security capabilities and services. This includes defining goals, metrics, processes, and supporting technologies. Lead efforts to gather/define requirements to develop prevention and detection capabilities that support ADP's data security policies. Own operational services that scan, classify, and protect sensitive data at rest or in motion.
  • Produce detailed solution designs for next generation data protection capabilities and services. Continually improve program outcomes, address gaps, , and reduce risk to ADP's infrastructure, processes, and sensitive data. Organize and coordinate supporting services for testing, deployment of new technical design specifications, and implementation and configuration of software suites.
  • Enable the comprehensive orchestration and automation of security processes to provide rapid incident response and gain efficiencies throughout the technical security services lifecycle.
  • Maintain an expert level understanding of emerging data security and endpoint threats and relevant mitigating controls. Provide consulting services to the business units and IT organizations to educate and ensure adherence with ADP's data security standards and industry best practices. Develop and maintain vendor relationships. Ensure compliance, drive control coverage, and define technical policies for DLP across multiple workloads and environments.
  • Drive the discovery and prioritize remediation of unstructured data controls to meet audit, compliance and ADP data protection requirements, policies and standards. Ensure global data security initiatives maintain adherence to continually changing privacy and legal compliance requirements. Assess and evaluate end point and data security control effectiveness, and drive towards improved control effectiveness, consistency and maturity across the organization.

A college degree is great but not required. What's more important is having the skills and experience to do the job. 


  • Positive Leadership.You have an upbeat, persistent style and the ability to come up with creative solutions without fear of rejection. You can manage your time well, prioritize deliverables, and multi-task with the best of them. In addition, you can present your ideas in a clear, professional manner on paper, in-person, and over the phone. With your incredible leadership skills, you are comfortable mentoring and provide guidance and expertise to other associates. You already possess a high degree of integrity, be trustworthy, and have the ability to work independently.
  • Proven Winner. With your eight-plus years of experience in cybersecurity roles, including planning, implementing, and running security capabilities, you have the ability to work well with key collaborators (security partners, technology teams, business units) to help improve or solution designs that adapt to ADP infrastructure. You possess strong analytical skills and cross-functional knowledge of multiple cybersecurity disciplines, in addition to strong knowledge and working experience with next generation antivirus (NGAV), data leakage prevention (DLP), structured and unstructured data protection (UDP) technologies and approaches.
  • Skilled Technical Expert. You possess a vast background (additional certificates help support your deep security knowledge (CISSP, GSEC, CISA, CISM, CRISC),comprising of functional experience working in a global hybrid cloud environment, including AWS, Azure,O365, and Google Cloud Platform, with dabases, business intelligence (BI) reporting and SQL experience. You are superb at defining and documenting business processes and controls. Your background will lend strength based on your experience with Digital Rights Management (DRM), data tagging, and encryption technologies and solutions. Your past experience with a major scripting language (Powershell, Bash, Python, etc.) for systems automation will be an added benefit to this role!

Preference will be given to candidates who have the following:

  • Experience with a major scripting language (, Pouwershell, Bash, Python, etc.) for systems automation is a plus

    · Creative thinker that leverages unconventional and innovative ideas to solve problems

    · Strong interpersonal, verbal presentation and written communication skills with the ability to communicate security-related concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical staff

    · Must possess a high degree of integrity, be trustworthy, and have the ability to work independently

    · Bachelor's Degree in Information / Cyber Security, Computer Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or equivalent education and experience

    · Information Security certifications desired: CISSP, GSEC, CISA, CISM, CRISC
