The Data & Analytics team is the engine that powers JPMorgan Chase with insights to create competitive advantages for our business and deliver value for our customers.  We have unified data and analytics talent across the firm and encompass a variety of disciplines including data science, reporting, quantitative analytics, and data governance.  Within this organization, the Decision Sciences team leverages industry-leading data-driven techniques to convert data into meaningful insights that enable the firm to drive value and an outstanding customer experience. 
The wealth management industry is rapidly changing and JPMorgan Chase is transforming our U.S. wealth management business to accelerate growth.  We are looking for a talented geospatial analyst to help inform our distribution strategy across a newly combined US Wealth Management (USWM) business unit that includes Chase Wealth Management, JP Morgan Securities, and the You Invest digital platforms.  Reporting to the Executive Director of USWM Decision Science, this Distribution Strategy & Analytics role will be central in understanding demographic trends and customer channel behaviors at a macro- and micro-market level to inform our in-branch and out-of-branch strategies across the wealth management product continuum.
This is a vital hands-on role so we’re looking for exceptionally creative, ambitious, "data curious" thinkers who can help take our geospatial data science workflows to the next level.  A typical day might include:
  • Analyzing market coverage to align Advisor distribution relative to client and prospect opportunity, including gaps or areas of overconcentration
  • Creating micro-markets based on concentration of wealth relative to real estate capacity in order to inform hiring and staffing models
  • Overlaying customer and channel behaviors across our local markets and branch footprint to determine how to optimize in-person and remote resources
  • Developing branch segmentation and branch-specific playbooks to deliver local insights that support line of business growth objectives
  • Monitoring market, role, and location-level business performance to diagnose opportunities to improve our sales practices


You are a strong candidate if you:

  • Think of yourself as part data analyst and part cartographer with a passion for improving business outcomes through geography by using technology to create digital presentations of spatial and geographical information
  • Have significant experience as a practicing geospatial data analyst or spatial data engineer in a retail environment with demonstrated success driving sales outcomes in a diverse network of branches or other storefronts
  • Geek out on visualization of data and love to debate the use of square versus hexagon spatial grids
  • Can’t imagine a day of work that doesn’t involve getting your hands dirty in the ESRI software suite, including ArcGIS Desktop, ArcPro, ArcGIS Model Builder, ArcGIS Online and/or ArcGIS Enterprise
  • Have a demonstrated ability to think both independently and collaboratively to implement creative solutions that solve business problems, being diligent in the detail while maintaining focus on broader purpose and business objectives
  • Are comfortable summarizing key information and presenting recommendations to multiple stakeholders to influence senior management
Bonus points if you:
  • Are formally trained in Geography with a BS, MS and/or GISP certification
  • Have strong programming skills in SQL and experience scripting with ArcPy; even better, you have proficiency in PYTHON scripting, Alteryx, Spark, HiveQL, R, SAS, and/or Tableau
  • Are a lifelong learner and hold a growth mindset; we welcome individuals who geek out on industry podcasts, stay abreast of cutting edge techniques, or participate in KDD and Kaggle competitions for “fun” and love to share what they are learning with the rest of the team
