Vice President - US Wealth Management - Marketing Analytics

Job Description

Are you excited when a digital ad finds you at just the right time?  Do you wonder how analytics and decision science are driving those ad placements?  Would you like to be part of a team that unlocks the secrets of personalized marketing?  JPMorgan Chase needs curious, passionate data scientists to drive the transformation of data into insights that identify "aha!" moments and enable business breakthroughs.

The Data & Analytics team is the engine that powers JPMorgan Chase with insights to create competitive advantages for our business and deliver value for our customers.  We have unified data and analytics talent across the firm and encompass a variety of disciplines including data science, reporting, quantitative analytics, and data governance.  Within this organization, the Decision Sciences team leverages industry-leading data-driven techniques to convert data into meaningful insights that enable the firm to drive value and an outstanding customer experience.

The wealth management industry is rapidly changing and JPMorgan Chase is transforming our U.S. wealth management business to accelerate growth.  We are looking for a talented data scientist to help us better understand consumer behaviors to help shape marketing strategies for the newly formed US Wealth Management (USWM) business unit which includes Chase Wealth Management, JP Morgan Securities, and the You Invest digital platforms.  Reporting to the Executive Director of USWM Decision Science, this role will be central in building a test and learn culture to enable personalized targeting, efficient funnel conversion, and optimized messaging across our continuum of investment solutions.

This is a vital hands-on role so we’re looking for exceptionally creative, ambitious, "data curious" thinkers who can help take our marketing analytics to the next level.  A typical day might include:

  • Partnering with key executives and decision makers to define the strategy and approach for a marketing campaign, including potential audiences, learning objectives and key performance indicators

  • Developing a testing strategy to identify what drives a prospect to respond to self-directed investing, full service wealth management, or a hybrid solution marketing message

  • Performing a cluster analysis to identify natural grouping of customers to target for an upgrade offer

  • Developing dashboards to monitor KPIs, activity metrics, demographics, and campaign outcomes as compared to marketing benchmarks and trends

  • Analyzing activities and behaviors within targeted populations to determine the incremental impact of our marketing channels and messages

  • Integrating valuation and channel insights into an overall perspective on firm marketing effectiveness

You are a strong candidate if you:

  • Have experience planning marketing campaigns, forecasting financial impacts of marketing efforts, and analyzing marketing campaign results
  • Appreciate a blend of “art” and “science” and can speak both languages to develop strong brand, product, and channel marketing strategies and tactics
  • Are passionate about experimental design and know the best way to test targeting, messaging, and channel mix to improve marketing performance
  • Understand the complexities of marketing attribution and know how to navigate working with campaign specific measurement strategies as well as standardized performance reporting to facilitate investment prioritization
  • Have a demonstrated ability to think both independently and collaboratively to implement creative solutions that solve business problems, being diligent in the detail while maintaining focus on broader purpose and business objectives
  • Are comfortable summarizing complex information to tell a simple story of what happened and why with recommendations to influence senior management

Bonus points if you:
  • Have prior experience working in an insights function at a financial services firm or a marketing/advertising agency
  • Are trained in statistical principles including experimental design and analysis of variance, probability theory, and sampling theory; additional points if you have an advanced degree in Statistics or a related discipline
  • Have a strong grasp of big data disciplines, Agile (scrum) methodologies, and new technologies
  • Are a lifelong learner and hold a growth mindset; we welcome individuals who geek out on industry podcasts, stay abreast of cutting edge techniques, or participate in KDD and Kaggle competitions for “fun” and love to share what they are learning with the rest of the team
