Location: On-site in Syracuse, NY
Role Summary
As the Director of IT for Rapid Response Monitoring, you will oversee the daily tactical operations of our IT team. Rapid Response Monitoring is the industry leader in monitoring services and we pride ourselves on providing exceptional customer experiences. To deliver these results, we require team members who have a wealth of technical knowledge and a remarkable work ethic. We won't stop until the problem is solved with the best solution possible.
You'll begin each day with a brief review of the day before. Did the team manage all critical events to closure? Did we maintain 99.999% uptime per our Service Level Agreements? If any prolonged outages occurred, you may help perform a root cause analysis. Next you'll focus on the current day, plus the weeks and months ahead by developing preventative maintenance plans, planning upgrade projects, and monitoring performance metrics to reduce risk of penalties if the SLA standard of 99.999% uptime is not met.
In addition to these and many other technical responsibilities, you will have people-centric duties as well, such as scheduling around planned and unplanned PTO to ensure optimal coverage, hiring, training and developing your team of engineers, and preparing and delivering routine performance reviews. You are also the on-call escalation point, if needed, 24/7.
The ideal person for this role loves technology and takes any opportunity to learn more about it. They're committed to our purpose of protecting life and property and will go the extra mile to solve problems quickly and correctly. They have managed a 24/7 on-site complex data center and managed a team of several in-house engineers. They've worked under SLAs before and understand that living up to those standards is more than a financial obligation for Rapid Response; it's a matter of our integrity. This job is intense. If it's right for you, however, we truly think you'll love it.
This role is onsite in Syracuse, New York. You'll manage a team of 15+ IT professionals in this office as well as another location in California. Travel to California will be required every 3-4 months as COVID safely allows.
