Inspect, repair, and lubricate rolling stock in M/W service. This will include painting and stenciling. Must have weld certification for freight equipment, 232 single car brake test and repairs, and 232 train air brake test. Must be a certified welder. Must be familiar and have working knowledge of rules of interchange and billing. Must prepare AAR billing forms and FRA safety appliance laws, power brake laws, and railroad freight car safety standards, blue flag and light regulations, and Amtraks instruction on amt-2. Must be able to measure for clearances. May work in diverse and various weather conditions. This position will require incumbent to complete and pass qmp certification (mgb209-di) class.


  • Applicant must be able to perform the job duties and maintain current certifications for the job.
  • Work within the guidelines of the System Safety Program.
  • Keep a clean and safe work area.
  • Return company tools and materials.
  • Work in and promote a teamwork environment to achieve a quality product.
  • Adhere to Amtraks Standard of Excellent Policy.
  • Positions designated as Hours of Service require the applicant to produce a negative Federal pre-employment drug test prior to performing the job.These jobs are subject to Federal random and reasonable suspicion testing.
