The Information Security Analyst I designs and implements security measures to safeguard the Credit Union's computer networks and systems. Core functions include security administration among various IT systems across the enterprise and the administration of the vulnerability management program.

This role interacts closely with external product vendors and service providers and is a valued business partner to all Credit Union departments, including audit functions as related to legal and regulatory compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Manage the implementation and development process for security solutions.

Manage the vulnerability management program by coordinating remediation efforts, generating reports, and providing metrics on the effectiveness of the program.

Monitor system logs, security information and event management (SIEM) tools, and network traffic for unusual or suspicious activity, and make recommendations for resolution.

Research, review, assess, and mitigate threats and vulnerabilities, including related penetration tests, on information systems and infrastructure.

Research, recommend, evaluate, and implement information security solutions, which identify and/or protect against potential threats, and respond to security violations.

Conduct security reviews of the network security architecture to identify accesses and assess the risk to these changes.

Assist in the management of firewalls, intrusion detection systems, switches, and routers, which includes researching, designing, formulating, and documenting firewall rules.

Report unresolved network security exposures, misuse of resources, and noncompliance situations using defined escalation processes.

Conduct audits and reviews of endpoint, network, and system security controls, and manage remediation efforts.

Develop and maintain documentation for security systems and procedures.

Coordinate with the monitoring and response program, identify new threats, develop and tune rules to monitor, generate reports, and provide metrics for the program.

Coordinate incident response activities, gather evidence, conduct forensic analysis on incidents, evaluate security controls, and make recommendations to improve them.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelors degree preferred, ideally in computer science, computer security, or a related technical field.

One to three (1-3) years information technology experience (ideally at the enterprise level), or equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or certifications.

At least one of the following certifications is preferred:

Network +

Security +


Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)

Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)

Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SCCP)

Experience and knowledge with information security activities, including risk assessment and management, threat and vulnerability management, incident response, and identity and access management.

Experience in simultaneously handling emergency and/or critical situations.

Experience in developing, documenting, and maintaining security procedures.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong verbal/written communication, organizational, interpersonal, and time/project management skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in security incident resolution.

Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.

Technical proficiency with security-related systems and applications, especially vulnerability assessment tools, endpoint solutions, proxy servers, security incident and event management systems, data loss prevention, active directory, identity and access management, and permissions management.
