What we do

Our team develops and maintains the Investment Bank’s strategic deal and document management system which serves 10,000+ global users. Primarily a web application, this system also has desktop and mobile components which we provide services for, and we also provide many deal-related services to other applications which integrate with us. Our focus encompasses the full stack of application ownership, including enterprise infrastructure, application design, cyber security controls, and high availability / resiliency.  We use and explore a wide range of leading edge technologies including Java, Spring, Documentum, ActiveMQ, Camel, SOLR, Elastic Search, React, and many others.     

What you'll do           

This is a senior software developer role – part of our core development team. You will be directly developing new features and supporting existing features on a flagship application of JPMorgan's Global Investment Bank on a diverse team of highly qualified engineers that have extensive Investment Banking Technology experience. You'll be contributing to the team's core development and will have plenty of opportunity to adopt a microservices architecture and shape the technical design as well as the UI/UX of the application. You'll be allied with level one and two engineers to support our users, and you’ll be side by side with the development team as you investigate, troubleshoot, and fix defects in the application logic, helping to make our application more valuable to the people that rely on it every day. You'll also have the chance to influence our priorities and strategy as you learn about and support this application, helping to streamline how we deliver solutions to the business.

  • Qualifications 


    Ideal candidates will have a strong working knowledge of:


    - Investment Banking & Corporate Finance, including product classes used in the business (Debt, Equity, M&A, etc.)


    - Banking Pipeline Management and Reporting


    - And will possess excellent communication and troubleshooting skills, ability to relate to business domain problems in the Banking space


     


    Technically, the candidate should have the following strengths:


    - Vaadin UI Framework & User Session Security


    - Web and Web UI development fundamentals (HTTP, SSL, TLS, HTML, CSS, web debugging tools, React JS etc.)


    - Proficiency in a Linux/Unix environment


    - Core Java and the Servlet API


    - Spring/Spring MVC/Spring Boot


    - Messaging / Asynchronous communication interfaces


    - Web services (SOAP and REST)


    - Threading


    - JUnit & Test-Driven Development


     


    Additionally, an understanding of at least some of these technologies and practices is beneficial:


    - Agile/Scrum


    - Apache Tomcat


    - Relational database expertise (Oracle, SQL Server, etc.)


    - Maven


    - Git


    - Continuous Integration/DevOps


    - JavaScript and JavaScript frameworks and libraries, such as jQuery, ReactJS or Kendo


    - Application Security & Password Management


    - Job scheduling tools like CA scheduler


    - QA experience, especially with automating tests using Selenium and/or Cucumber

  • Web development experience (Java, Python, etc)
  • Relational database expertise (Oracle, SQL Server, etc.)

  • Proficiency in a Linux/Unix environment
  • Excellent communication and troubleshooting skills, ability to relate to business domain problems
