SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Incumbent must handle baggage, express and company materials and be qualified to operate electrical and battery powered equipment and elevators. Applicants must have a thorough knowledge of all aspects of receiving, delivering and forwarding of passengers baggage. Applicants should be familiar with Parcel Checks and will be held responsible for collection and depositing any Amtrak revenue he/she receives during their tour of duty. Revenue includes that which is collected from excess baggage, storage charges, transfers, CODs, temporary checking, Amtrak Express, prepaid delivery, excess valuations, etc. Incumbent must assist passengers on movement of parcels and luggage within the station and must be able to lift 50 pounds. Incumbent must be able to read, write and have a thorough knowledge of the physical layout of the station. Incumbent must have a high school diploma, preferably two years of college or work equivalency. Incumbent must conform to Amtraks Standards of Excellence and prescribed code of dress. Also, the incumbent must be willing to perform other duties as may be assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have a high school diploma or general education development (GED) high school equivalency diploma.
Bachelors degree in transportation, business management or related field or equivalent work experienced preferred.

Must have excellent oral and written communication skills

In accordance with DOT regulations (49 CFR 40.25), Amtrak is required to obtain prior drug and alcohol testing records for applicants/employees intending to perform safety-sensitive duties for covered Department of Transportation positions. If an applicant/employee refuses to provide written consent for Amtrak to obtain these records, the individual will not be permitted to perform safety-sensitive functions.
