SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Have a desire to learn and formulate the data that supports a learning management system? As an intern at Amtrak, you will learn the foundational principles in human resources operations, customer service, project management and related HR functions. You will work under close supervision of the HR Learning and Development team and in collaboration with key partners in areas such as: Information Technology, Operations, Enterprise Project Management and Workforce Analytics. Individuals in this role use strong communication, time management, and analytical skills to:

  • Support internal reporting and data collection
  • Leverage various tools and technology to analyze data and identify trends
  • Perform root cause analysis and propose recommendations

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Support the business with reporting and summarizing learning data
  • Complete audits and quality analysis of learning needs and inquiries
  • Assist in the review and development of desktop procedures and job aids
  • Initiate process improvements based on data outcomes
  • Recommend learning and skill paths based on data trend analysis

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be actively pursuing a degree at an accredited educational institution.
  • Must be actively pursuing an undergraduate degree in Business Management, Management Information Systems, Business Analytics, or other related degree.
  • Must have at least 1 year of academic undergraduate studies completed or a sophomore status at minimum.
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong MS Excel experience (including VLookup and Pivots)
  • Experience with FileMaker Pro or related database applications
  • Experience with the MS Office 365 product offerings

COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
