Position Summary

Participates in the administration of student exams in a classroom or online setting. In addition to assisting with interview day to provide technical support via ZOOM platform.

Estimated Time Commitment/Examination Periods: 8-12 hours every 6 weeks, plus up to an additional 4 hours every half block.

Chicago Medical School, the original college of the five, has been educating physicians and furthering biomedical research for more than 100 years. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

General Proctoring Responsibilities:
  • Become thoroughly familiar with NBME and CMS testing procedures and conduct the examinations in strict compliance with these specified procedures.
  • Ensure that verbal instructions are read aloud and verbatim to examinees.
  • Prevent or minimize any disturbances (including, but not limited to, disruptive examinee behaviors, environmental distractions, etc.) to examinees during the examination administration.
  • Maintain integrity of the examination process throughout the test administration.
  • Monitor examinee behavior during the examination. Verify any irregular behavior with the Chief Proctor and document the irregular behavior.
  • Provide backup coverage for on-campus examinations as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief Proctor.

Remote Proctoring:
  • Utilize web conferencing software, such as Zoom, to monitor students throughout the exam session.
  • Independently perform pre-exam security measures and assist examinees with launching the exam.
  • Directly monitor and serve as the primary point of contact for 10-16 examinees throughout an exam session.
  • Communicate with students during the examination session to address individual issues, such as technical problems with the NBME software/Zoom or environmental disruptions.
  • Troubleshoot common technical issues and escalate more complex problems to the Chief Proctor in a timely manner.
  • Perform checkout procedures with examinees as they complete their examinations.
  • Assist Chief Proctor with various duties, including providing temporary coverage to other proctors, contacting students as necessary, and other duties as assigned.
  • Proctor students with ADA-approved testing accommodations as needed.
  • Maintain open and timely communication with other proctors throughout the test administration.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MMI Interview Support:
  • Open and close breakout rooms while moving applicants to the appropriate breakout rooms throughout the interview day.
  • Create an engaging online environment for applicants throughout the day; particularly when they are in waiting rooms.
  • Participate in several training sessions prior to interview launch day in September.
  • Provide excellent customer service through the interview day.

Required Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must achieve satisfactory results from a background check.
  • Must have proof of COVID19 vaccination or a university approved exemption.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Strong working knowledge of Zoom, Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
  • Well-versed in accessing and utilizing web-based applications.
  • Ability to multitask and efficiently address issues in a high-stress situation.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Some college experience.
  • Higher education/testing experience.
