Job Description

*Requires a DoD secret level security clearance to start.

Conducts preventive maintenance, repair, installation, and commissioning and general servicing of systems (including detailed troubleshooting of systems). Responsible for high levels of customer satisfaction through direct, on site, customer interface. With a high level of complete technical competence, mentors control technicians, service technician and mechanical technicians on building automation activities. Properly completes required project and service documentation.


Essential Job Responsibilities

Synthesizes customer contractual needs and requirements into system test solutions that acknowledges technical, schedule and cost constraints. Develops and directs preparation and execution of comprehensive test plans, procedures and schedules for completing systems. Coordinates integrated testing activities. Reviews and evaluates test requirements to insure completeness of test program. Performs technical analysis of complete systems and prepares comprehensive system level evaluations.

Responsibilities also Include:

1. Diagnoses and repairs control systems malfunctions requiring extensive knowledge of a variety of electronic or digital controls systems and ability to test and write modifications in multiple languages of systems software.2. Consults with the customer through data gathered and site assessments. Provides field proposals for retrofits, upgrades and or enhancements to existing equipment.3. Manages assigned work to meet professional and efficient execution of time and customer satisfaction. Reports problems or changes to management immediately.4. Provides sketches of field changes and discrepancies for engineering corrections and drawings. May assist with job layouts and proposals.5. Meets regularly with customer to become familiar with operating problems. Keeps customer informed on the nature of service provided, outstanding issues and recommends system enhancements, upgrades, and or replacement. Promotes the sale of add-on work.6. Trains the customer in control systems operations.8. Provides mentorship for certification of Controls Technicians and Service Technicians on complex building automation systems. Coaches, supports and trains mechanical workforce on non-complex, non-critical equipment.9. Other duties related to the commissioning and servicing of building controls and facilities management systems and energy management systems as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

9 Years relevant experience with Bachelors; 7 Years relevant experience with Masters; An additional 4 years of specific job experience with a HS diploma may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree requirement for this job. This experience is in addition to the relevant years of experience listed with the job's education requirements. Example: If this job required a Bachelor's degree + 5 years relevant experience the equivalency would equal HS diploma + 9 years job related experience.

Additional Qualifications and Experiences include:

+ Strong knowledge and practical experience with troubleshooting, repairing and calibrating DDC systems.

+ Solid knowledge and practical experience with troubleshooting and editing DDC programs.

+ Strong knowledge and experience with the controls concepts for the mechanical HVAC equipment in commercial buildings.

+ Practical experience interfacing & integrating DDC systems with electrical & mechanical equipment systems in commercial buildings.

+ Strong knowledge of commercial buildings mechanical and electrical systems.

Preferred Requirements

+ Experience working with & troubleshooting the following controls systems is a plus: Metasys, Schneider Electric I/A Series Controls (BACnet) Tridium Niagara Framework.

+ Experience working with Legacy Metasys N2 Controllers.

+ Experience working with Metasys BACnet Controllers.

+ Experience working with Metasys ADX Servers and Network Engines. This includes the upgrading of ADX software and Network Engines.

+ Experience working with Microsoft Visio to update control drawings.

+ Experience working with the Metasys User Interface. This includes operating, installation, and modification of existing system.

Essential Experience and Skills:

+ Knowledge of Computers and computer software packages including but not limited to (VISIO, MS Office, Explorer, and HTML)

+ Knowledge of heating, ventilating and air conditioning equipment and related DDC and building management systems.

+ Technical certifications in HVAC, Building Control Systems, DDC Controls is required.

Physical Requirements

Office, industrial, or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving materials may be required.
