Summary of Position

The JobsOhio Beverage System (JOBS), a private, nonprofit entity, owns an exclusive franchise for the sale of spirituous liquor in the state of Ohio (Liquor Enterprise) to fund the economic development activities of JobsOhio. JOBS is governed by a Board of Directors appointed by JobsOhio as the sole member of JOBS. JOBS partners with the Ohio Department of Commerce's Division of Liquor Control (DLC) to operate the Liquor Enterprise.

The Director, Retail and Brand Experience will be known as the expert on the Ohio Liquor (OHLQ) customer, defined as consumers (of legal drinking age), permit holders and contract liquor agents. The Director will lead the creation and execution of strategies that enhance the relationship Ohioans have with the Ohio liquor enterprise. This role will identify and leverage data and insights to develop the positioning and messaging for the OHLQ brand. To accomplish the outlined expectations, the Director, Retail and Brand Experience will work closely with various partners and vendors to gain alignment, create content and materials, and support execution. Collaboration will be key to success for this role. This position reports into the Managing Director, JobsOhio Beverage System.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build awareness and brand affection for Ohio Liquor (OHLQ). Elevate the connection between OHLQ and the high-proof spirits industry in Ohio.
  • Champion an exceptional customer experience in all physical and digital touchpoints, including, but not limited to, retail stores, website, digital marketing, print marketing, events, call center, etc, - before, during and after interaction
  • Optimize customer touchpoints around product and service marketing (locally and state-wide), sales and services, channel optimization, CRM, front-end technologies, stakeholder experience, purpose and values, innovation.
  • Develop and implement a digital strategy and roadmap for the OHLQ digital experience. Lead creation of unique and engaging content, ensuring a differentiated and compelling customer experience with OHLQ. Adapt strategy as dicated by data and stakeholder/customer feedback.
  • Use data and insights to create full-funnel marketing campaigns to drive awareness, new customer acquisition and customer loyalty. Campaigns must be delivered in omni-channel manner, taking physical and digital touchpoints in to consideration.
  • Develop and implement a retail strategy and roadmap for OHLQ retail experience. Create and provide unqiue opportunities to support retail sales at all Contract Liquor Agency locations. Adapt strategy as dicated by data and stakeholder/customer feedback.
  • Develop and execute in-store activation strategy(ies) for all Contract Liquor Agency locations.
  • Initiate consumer research to better understand the customer and market in Ohio; develop OHLQ positioning and messaging, combat competitive and market threats based on research.
  • Develop, champion and monitor annual budget for marketing and customer experience initiatives
  • Continuously measure and track KPI's on identified customer experience initiatives as well as process improvements in the customer experience journey.
  • Lead, inspire and gain alignment across all cross-functional partners and team members to execute an exceptional customer experience.
  • Collaborate with DLC, suppliers and brokers, and trade organizations to gain alignment of of approved strategies. Critical to this role is the ability to collaborate and align with various stakeholders, most importantly the DLC.
  • Tie OHLQ initiatives and success to JobsOhio economic development mission.
  • Partner with Director of Operations to create, manage, and maintain vendor contracts needed to accomplish identified strategies.
  • Lead, manage, develop and mentor/coach team members
  • Responsible for performance reviews, time and expense approvals and annual goal setting

  • Extensive experience with team building and leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of an organization.
  • Experience delivering solutions based on business needs.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects at a time while paying strict attention to detail.
  • Experience with vendor management
  • Strong listening and presentation skills (be a leader in brand storytelling)
  • Experience managing direct reports
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications or related field.
