ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Director of Information Technology will support the Food Bank's mission and vision through leadership and management of the Information Technology resources by executing strategies that contribute to sustainable progress toward achieving this goal. This position also provides effective strategic and tactical management of networking, systems administration, desktop support, technology roadmap, telephone and desktop/laptop enablement, including capital and operational planning/execution and business continuity planning.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to develop and translate IT strategic vision into executable roadmap
  • Advanced decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build and foster business relationships
  • Collaborative and inclusive team player
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Comfortable with public speaking and an effective communicator with internal and external stakeholders
  • Self-directed, strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • Up-to-date knowledge of latest IT developments and best computer security practices
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

Experience:

  • 5 - 7 years of IT management experience
  • At least 3 years of supervisory experience and outsourced vendor management
  • Experience with food banking, warehousing, and distribution a plus

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Safeguard the company's information by ensuring network security and maintaining virus protection software, including SPAM
  • Drive continuous effectiveness and efficiency improvements in IT service provision
  • Manage the data governance and business intelligence efforts of NTFB
  • Evaluate new trends in technologies and services as they emerge, recommending changes to NTFB's processes, systems and practices
    Build and maintain vendor relationships and manage the purchases of hardware and software products, as well as IT services
  • Work with Feeding America and partner agencies on IT integration projects
  • Ensure users/customers are provided professional, courteous, and timely support and service
  • Develop/enable and conduct user training on an as-needed basis
  • Prepare and execute an annual business plan and associated budget for the IT department
  • Lead NTFB's digital transformation
  • Ensure appropriate policies, procedures and training are reviewed, documented and followed for effective, efficient and safe operations
  • Collaborate and partner with other Food Banks, hunger, and disaster relief organizations to leverage best practices.
  • Promote a culture of high performance, customer service, accountability, action-orientation, quality, and excellence in support of our partner agencies and clients.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee a team of three direct reports and manage outsourced vendors

  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:

  • Moderate noise (i.e. business office with open floor plan with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic).
