About the position:

The Director, Financing the Future is a new position that leads JFFs Financing the Future Initiative (FtF), including all facets of the initiatives strategy development and operational execution. The Director will build FtF into a major national initiative, providing leadership on how innovative financing models can enable the future of work and the evolving education and training needs across individuals lifetimes. The initiative will drive the national dialog and action across the fields of education and workforce development; policy at the federal, state, and local levels; and finance. Further, the Director will build out a portfolio of pilots, research, and implementation projects, leveraging JFFLabs and partners across the nation. The Director will lead a cross-functional team across JFFs policy, postsecondary, innovative finance, research and communication teams to position FtF to achieve its intended impact.

What you'll do:

  • Program Design and Strategy: You will lead the design and execution of a visionary, inclusive, bipartisan, action-oriented initiative that will lead the field in thinking about how financing will enable the future of work.
  • Content Development: Conceive of, develop, and direct the production of highly compelling original collateral (e.g., case studies, briefs, frameworks, tools/resources) that will drive awareness and action in the market, starting with Income Share Agreements (ISAs), but that will broaden the conversation to include an array of other innovative financing tools, which may range from merit-based lending to individual training accounts to reimagined federal aid
  • Partnership Development: Devise and support a partnership strategy that builds and maintains strong relationships and partnerships with leaders nationwide.
  • Fundraising: Develop a fundraising strategy and support pipeline, including developing compelling proposals, managing current and prospective funder relationships, and oversee grants management in partnership with other colleagues and teams across JFF

Who you are:

  • You have a passion for helping workers advance and for leveling the playing field to create economic opportunity for all. You have worked on issues of economic advancement, education reform, and/or workforce development
  • You believe deeply in the need for education finance reform to drive opportunity access and economic mobility
  • You have 10+ years of experience in the financial sector, higher education administration, policy, or other areas that require deep understanding of financial institutions and/or education finance
  • You have substantive experience and deep familiarity with education funding models, policies, and stakeholders
  • You model inclusive leadership, working effectively with diverse staff, and stewarding an organizational culture that embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion, and an ability to apply JFFs corevalues to all areas of your work
  • You are excellent at working both in teams and independently
  • You are able to use your informal authority to get things done well in a matrixed work environment
