The Director, Employee Services will provide overall leadership and direction for the Employee Services function which includes a team of approximately 60 staff plus a sizable team of External Workers and Vendor Partners. The Employee Services team is located around the world with a primary presence in Tampa, Florida. This role will oversee the end-to-end delivery of the following teams: North American Payroll, Global Stock and Benefits, Global Mobility, HR Connect, and HR Technology.

This role is accountable for delivering best-in-class experiences and outcomes for our staff and for strong support of our Human Resources function. This role is also responsible for continuously improving the processes and procedures for every aspect of Employee Services. This role will be a core member of the Amgen Capability Center (ACC) Cross-Functional Leadership Team and will report to the Executive Director, Global Business Solutions/ACC Site Lead. This role will work closely with Human Resource leadership and Information Services as well as many strategic business partners around the globe. As we continue to grow and evolve our Employee Services function, we are looking for a leader to drive our operational activities to the next level of maturity. Responsibilities Include
  • Manages, coaches, and develops direct reports to enable individuals to reach their highest potential, resulting in a high-performing team.
  • Provides role clarity, direction, knowledge and support to team members as needed.
  • Leads a culture of customer centricity that is focused on exceptional delivery.
  • Works cross-functionally to affect enterprise-wide process improvements with our internal and external partners by designing and implementing processes, solutions, metrics and programs that improve outcomes for our staff and business partners.
  • Maximizes performance delivery by ensuring target metrics for teams are established, monitored and streamlined to optimize operational effectiveness.
  • Builds and maintains strong partnerships with key leaders to enhance engagement and influence participation.
  • Manages and successfully implements new initiatives.
  • Brings Analytical and strategic thinking and can synthesize large amounts of data and translate it into strong operations and a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Manages the Employee Services annual budget.
  • E nsures that escalated issues are dealt with in an effective and timely manner.
  • Manages and partners with external outsourced service providers. Negotiates vendor contracts and service agreements when appropriate.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Doctorate degree and 4 years of Human Resources and/or Shared Services experience


OR
  • Master's degree and 8 years of Human Resources and/or Shared Services experience


OR
  • Bachelor's degree and 10 years of Human Resources and/or Shared Services experience


AND

4 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading a shared service organization, human resources function and/or service function
  • Strong people leadership
  • Exemplary communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate up, down and across the organization
  • Experience delivering exceptional customer service
  • Excellent judgment and analytical skills coupled with strong operational mindset
  • Highly developed problem-solving skills including identification and execution of key analyses, ability to synthesize and present compelling recommendations
  • Top-notch cross-functional key stakeholder partnership, relationship building skills and straightforward change management communication skills
  • Client-focused, resourceful, pro-active
