Director, Educational Planning, Counseling & Completion - South Campus

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Provide leadership to assure that educational planning services are leading edge and adhere to the highest standards of quality. The function of the director is to supervise, coordinate, and manage all educational planning, retention and student success initiatives on the campus.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Supervises, coordinates, and directs all educational planning, student success initiatives, retention, and completion activities. Manages student traffic to ensure high quality services are provided.
  • Coordinates and directs the activities of the office; manages the educational planning and completion budget, approves payroll, and maintains office schedules.
  • Interviews, selects, trains, supervises, and evaluates a diverse staff through the performance management system. Makes appropriate staffing recommendations in accordance with College policies and procedures.
  • Collaborates with counterparts to ensure consistent and uniform application of all functions, processes, and services within educational planning and completion across the College.
  • Facilitates timely, professional communication and problem resolution strategies with students.
  • Coordinates graduation application process and assists with commencement activities.
  • Monitors retention interventions that address the characteristics and needs of a diverse population.

Additional Job Functions:
  • Consults and collaborates with the Dean, Student Development to plan, implement, and evaluate the plans and services of the campus through data analysis. Submits monthly and annual written reports including professional improvement and growth activities.
  • Represents the College with outside educational institutions, internal departments, and professional organizations. Serves as department liaison and on College communities as requested.
  • Monitors Educational Planning web presence to include the College website and use of social media.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Maintain a personal and professional commitment to the college values and the success of the College and its students
  • Must be team-oriented with the ability to work well with other staff and faculty members in the development and administration of programs within Student Development as well as throughout the college
  • Excellent oral & written communication, interpersonal, organization and presentation skills as well as possess personal computer literacy
  • Be knowledgeable of and responsive to FERPA law and regulations
  • Ability to manage numerous tasks simultaneously as well as develop new projects and programs with little supervision
  • Ability to safeguard sensitive and/or confidential information from intentional or unintentional disclosure
  • Ability to meet deadlines for assigned reports and projects
  • Ability to demonstrate the College values
  • Ability to interview, select, train, supervise, and evaluate a diverse population of personnel
  • Ability to provide feedback, support, and encouragement to staff members
  • Ability to perform all the essential functions of the position

Required Education:
  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally-accredited college or university

Preferred Education:
  • Master's degree from a regionally-accredited college or university

Required Experience:
  • Two years of supervisory experience
  • Five years of experience providing various modes of advising/educational planning in a higher education system
  • Experience creating and fostering student success, retention and completion

Preferred Experience:
  • Budget management experience
  • Knowledge and experience with Banner Student Systems or other student database software systems
  • Knowledge and experience with administering and evaluating college-level assessments, including computerized tests.

Note: This position has opportunity for limited remote work arrangements with appropriate approvals and in accordance with the policies, procedures, and needs of the College.

Salary Grade: 29

Salary is based on the Board-approved salary schedule for the current fiscal year. See Salary Schedule
