About the Role
The Director, DTC Distribution Revenue Accounting will lead the Americas DTC Distribution Revenue Accounting team and will also have dotted-line oversight of the global DTC distribution revenue accounting process. This position will be fully remote but will be expected to travel to Knoxville, TN periodically to provide in-person management to the DTC Distribution Revenue Accounting team based in Knoxville, TN. The ideal candidate will be an experienced accounting leader and well-versed in US GAAP revenue accounting principles. This role will be expected to operate within tight deadlines in an evolving new business line at the Company. Strong people management skills, process design and implementation experience, and a high attention to detail are crucial to ensuring success in this role.


  • Directing the accounting for the Americas DTC (direct-to-consumer) distribution revenue, including establishing and/or maintaining efficient and effective operational accounting processes
  • Providing proper oversight of the Americas DTC distribution revenue process to ensure compliance with US GAAP and the Companys revenue recognition policies
  • Managing the global DTC distribution revenue processes (via dotted-line-reporting of certain International team members) to drive consistency and accuracy in the respective accounting processes around the world
  • Coordinating with other key members of management as needed to drive continued maturity and compliance in the DTC accounting processes to include, but not limited to: FP&A, Tax, DTC Billing & Payment Operations, Technical Accounting & Financial Compliance, Internal Audit, IT, & DTC Operations
  • Serving as the primary DTC distribution revenue accounting point-of-contact in the on-going DTC subscription system implementation efforts to support automation growth as well as maintain and enhance current technology
  • Preparing and/or reviewing journal entries and account reconciliations in accordance with Company policy, ensuring team meets all close deadlines
    Preparing or reviewing analytical results of financial results, including balance sheet fluctuations
  • Preparing and/or reviewing SOX controls and disclosure reporting for SEC reporting purposes
  • Coordinating and assisting with audit requests made by Internal Audit and/or external auditors, as needed
  • Assisting the direct manager and/or Technical Accounting, as necessary, with the review of applicable revenue contracts and determine proper revenue recognition in accordance with US GAAP accounting standards and company policy, as well as coordinate any system setups in order to properly recognize and report such revenue
  • Accountable for the performance of a team, sets priorities for the team to ensure task completion
  • Make decisions guided by established policies and procedures
  • Other duties and responsibilities as needed
  • Approximately 10% travel expected


What you need to have:
  • BS/BA in related discipline from an accredited university
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in an accounting role and a strong understanding of US GAAP and SOX requirements
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a supervisory/leadership role
  • CPA required
  • Legal right to work in the United States

Its a plus if you have:
  • Big 4 or large national public accounting background
  • Proven accounting experience with US GAAP revenue recognition, especially in the media & entertainment industry
  • Attention to detail, accuracy and strong organizational skills
  • Experience with SAP and Blackline strongly preferred
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office
  • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure
  • Capacity to effectively manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Embraces change driven by evolving business initiatives and maintains positivity when time-sensitive milestones shift
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to work collaboratively with cross-functional team members at all levels
  • Experience implementing best practices that require significant innovation for improving processes by applying advanced understanding of complex functional/technical and business issues and challenges
  • Ability to anticipate resource requirements and to make adjustments based on emerging issues and priorities
