The individual in this role oversees the Primary Market Research and Secondary Analytics teams to deliver high-quality insights that drive strategic decisions and generate value for the assigned in-line and pipeline Oncology assets. The person in this position is a relentless champion of insights-driven strategy, evidence-based decision making, transparency, and continuous innovation.

The Director is expected to successfully coach the team to employ best in class practices, challenge the status quo, and streamline processes where possible to drive efficiency. Additionally, you will foster an environment of cooperation with Marketing, Sales, Finance, Forecasting, Competitive Intelligence, Data Science, Marketing Operations, Manufacturing, and Pricing/Access is critical.

This position will partner closely with Oncology business leaders to identify key strategic questions and will lead their team with a laser focus on driving maximum business impact. The individual will drive excellence in analytics and research, encouraging teams to use the highest-caliber current and emerging methodologies in primary market research, and both descriptive and predictive analytics to generate high-value, meaningful insights.

This position reports to the Executive Director of Oncology Commercial Data & Analytics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead teams of secondary analysts and market researchers to deliver impactful insights for assigned in-line brands and pipeline Oncology assets covering both the US and Global organizations
  • Partners with business leaders in Oncology to understand and influence strategic imperatives related to analytics and research, act as a thought partner and encourage evidence-based decision making, challenging leadership when necessary
  • Primary point of contact for senior Commercial leaders to engage with research and analytics for assigned assets
  • Prioritize analytics and research activities, align team members, and allocate resources to reflect business imperatives; balance needs across in-line and pipeline assets while driving productivity and efficiency
  • Instill, and reflect, a strong commitment to quality and standards - both in the underlying analytical frameworks and presentations. Ensures final products are well vetted and reliable.
  • Thought leader ensuring broad adoption of standard methodologies and incorporating new methods and tools as appropriate
  • Liaise with leaders in Oncology to encourage best in class practice sharing for research and analytics
  • Help build research and analytics as an advantage, including developing team members and creating clear career paths
  • Serve as an expert in the Oncology marketplace, and lead strategic special projects that help shape and drive the direction of the organization
  • Support and play an integral role on Oncology BD related projects

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 4 years of experience in primary market research, consulting and/or analytics to drive business strategy

Or

Master's degree and 7 years of experience in primary market research, consulting and/or analytics to drive business strategy

Or

Bachelor's degree and 9 years of experience in primary market research, consulting and/or analytics to drive business strategy

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, brands, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources
  • Strong hands-on experience with secondary analytics in Oncology, and a deep understanding of the nuances in the data sets used to perform secondary analytics in this space
  • Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative primary market research techniques
  • Executive presence by which one can quickly establish credibility with and influence VP/SVP level staff
  • Ability to think strategically about issues impacting an entire portfolio of therapeutics across geographies and stages of development
  • Experience managing multiple senior partners, prioritizing across a multitude of responsibilities and allocating resources to drive maximum impact
  • Eye for business that lends itself to understanding the context and dynamics of pharmaceutical markets in Oncology
  • Partners with business leaders to deliver high-quality predictions that guide strategic decision-making
  • Oral, written and presentation skills to explain complex concepts and sensitive findings clearly to a variety of audiences, including senior management
  • Identify how shifts in customer or competitor behavior may impact tactic and brand performance
  • Experience in leading outside vendors in primary research
  • Align teams to best in class practices and champion new innovative methodologies across analytics and research modalities
